How Do I Put on the Armor of God?

@Bethel

Greetings,
This manner of communication is not acceptable here at TalkJesus...
I suggest you owe Rhema an apology
Please be much more careful how you interact with other members
Bless you ....><>

Your forum friend said this to me, before i responded as you read and then replied.

Perhaps you missed it ?????

Rhema said... to me..

Why? You have no standing, having shown not the slightest interest in or ability to read the actual text of the New Testament.
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
(Galatians 6:3 KJV)

So, when you decide to request an apology from Rhema, sent my way, then let me know and i'll make arrangements regarding your request.

You have earned yourself a seven day vacation

And yes, i have been watching the interaction and considering your continual rudeness, the replies you have received have been tame.

Legalism, is the false religion of the self righteous.
The self righteous has no real faith in Christ, .. they instead have faith in their self effort which is shown by their inability to talk about the Cross or the Blood of Jesus.
Yet they can talk endlessly about works and water and works and water and works and water.
How do you discover this person, this "christian"?
They will teach "water and works" in place of the Grace of God, and argue that without works God does not accept you or keep you.

Paul defines this person, if they are born again (and not just water baptized and religious)...........Paul defines this person as "bewitched"..."fallen from Grace"... and "In the Flesh".
This person, has no use for the GIFT of Salvation, and can only think of Christianity as self effort to try to stay saved.

I would offer works of faith or labors of love and water and works of faith and water are used in parables to signify the unseen work as our living God working in His new creation .The doctrines of God inspired from heaven that fall like rain are separate from the doctrines as private interpretations of men (our own personal commentaries of how we say we hear God .

Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

The other witness below

Mark 7:7Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

As James inspired from above informs us of the earthly inspired from the god of this world (devil) the spirit by which the unbelieving faithless Jews turned things upside down . Inspired from earth as oral traditions not the doctrines of God from above. . . they fall like rain and can cause growth .

Isaiah 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

The word of God as the armor of God defines His doctrines that fall like rain . We are loving commanded to put the Armor on as our defense, his power working in us. No armor for the back he is our rear guard.

As apologists (all Christians) it is imperative to keep on as a comforting and guiding tool. . then we try the spirits to see if of men earthly inspired. . or God heavenly.

Deuteronomy 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

Unless a person is born again by the Spirit with water to represent the doctrine of God. .again using the things seen (water) to give us the vison of faith we walk without the true doctrines that do fall like showers of blessing from above. . . without we walk in darkness .

Nicodemus a Pharisee like Paul before his born again conversion as a law of the father .a hierarchy of venerable men, did walk or understand by the things seen the temporal, corrupted and not by faith (as it is written in the law and prophets) the sword of the Spirit .

The Holy Spirit took that opportunity to teach us how to walk by faith believing prophecy and not those who seek after signs to wonder or marvel by .(no faith as it is written)

Marveling and wondering is not believing. Using the greatest possible miracle the Holy Spirt teaches the importance of distinguishing as to whose doctrine we can hear.

Water like blood represents or signifies the work of the Holy Spirit

John 3: 5-8 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

I would offer what I would call a perfect example used to stop the murmuring of those who thought God was trying to starve them to death in the wilderness.

There he brought manna literally meaning what is it to express. . . His ways are not ours, the bread of unfamiliarity our daily bread also called the hidden manna in Revelation 2.

Numbers 11:9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

Raining bread from heaven setting it upon the dew to represent the Holy Spirit. The water and the Spirit (spirt represented by water . It caused growth stopping the murmuring. Same kind of doctrines of God water of the word husbands are to wash they wives with . In a hope they will submit to Christ who they represent.

Water and blood are used throughout the Bible to signify the inspiration power of our living God ,Christ Jesus. .

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying,

If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.
He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

(But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
John 7:37-40

You will.
and you'll believe this also, before all is said and done. Philippians 2:10-11
Why do you think such threats hold wisdom? They do not. Truly, they unearth insecurity.

Let's look at your scripture threat (and why it isn't):

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Philippians 2:10-11 KJV)

To bow means to obey. From the posts I have read, you do not. I do. It's that simple. In that Jesus Christ IS my Lord (not Paul), how could I possibly be threatened by this? Instead, this tells me you do not understand the premise of Pauline Christianity, the MAD dispensation theory, or the two-gospel claims. But since you think you do, there's no room for further discussion here.

People that are led by the Spirit of God realize that God is all about foreknowledge.
And, in God's foreknowledge He understood that ENGLISH would become the universal language and Koine Greek, would become irrelevant.
So, that's what happened.
12059643253_5dca2027a1_o.gif

So God was unable to ensure that His Truth could be adequately communicated in Koine Greek?
That God needed to wait two thousand years until your language evolved enough so that He could finally get YOU the truth in an English translation?
And all English translations are inspired?

People led by the Spirit of God would realize that such arguments are absurd. God doesn't do absurd.

And before you continue to parade about as a greek scholar, let me remind you that there are over 30 extant Koine Greek Texts, and not just one.
As if you have standing to decide that someone is "parading" or not? If your name is not Metzger, Mounce, Wallace or Ehrman, (and maybe Fee and F.F.Bruce) the only reply here is to laugh. (Becuase your post is just silly.)

Now I am sorry that I uncovered your blatant insecurity, but the fact that God had the New Testament texts published in a language that you do not understand is your problem. One you may wish to remedy. At this point, I can only caution the general reader to be wary of those who invent and teach doctrines based upon English translation ARTIFACTS - using words, phrases and concepts that cannot be found within the initial language.

... let me remind you that there are over 30 extant Koine Greek Texts, and not just one.
Shall I remind you of the hundreds of English Texts (translations) ??

Legit students realize that the two major critical editions of the nearly 6,000 Greek mss. fragments (the UBS and Nestle) have ultimately converged into a single agreeing text (the UBS5 and the NA28). And where on earth did you ever get the idea that there were "30 extant Koine Greek Texts"? I'm curious where this "30" number came from and what you would consider a "Greek Text" (i.e. does this exclude mss. fragments?).

Of course I expect you to consider this question rhetorical as such is waayyy off point of the OP (and you tend to avoid actually answering questions). But please do start a thread if you think it truly important.

Also, its a false game to pretend to be an authority above the bible.
Which Bible? Yours? His? Theirs? I think pretense lies in adding in words like you have done, thinking your conclusions to be more than a mere interpretation - a misinterpretation, even, based upon a lack of understanding of the initial language.

Real Christians don't play this game, Rhema.
Real Christians don't add in words to the scripture texts, and draw conclusions from mistranslation artifacts.

And so I refer you back to my first post in this thread:

Rhema

Are you asking a question or posting a theology?
There was a question mark in my post. Question marks are used to ask questions. Are they not?

I even pointed this out to you here:
PS: ALL my question are questions. They are not "statements made in the form of a question."

Now with regards to your interpretation here: ...
So, Jesus said.....you must be born again, as the first birth is FLESH, a body, that was born from a Mother.
Again, that is an interpretation. Jesus never said that the first birth is FLESH. He didn't. You can't post a verse that says such.

And rather than repeating myself, I provide the link to my position in the other thread.

Now if at all possible, the posts we make on BAPTISM really should be continued in that thread, rather than here. So from now on, I will reply over there and not in this thread. (And if I had moderator privileges, I would move all these baptism posts into a more appropriate thread.)

Kindly,
Rhema

I suggest you owe Rhema an apology
Dear Br. Bear,

Perhaps an apology isn't needed, as I was not offended, but more so embarrassed for @Bethel.

My impression is that he is struggling with certain doctrines, and I am not against someone expressing frustrations when confronted with a rebuttal that stands outside of one's competence. The lack of an indefinite article in Koine Greek can be truly perplexing, and even the application of the definite article still puzzles Dr. Daniel Wallace, as there seems to be no pattern that would fit into modern English. (Try dealing with Russian, a language that has no articles at all.)

"Russian has no articles. This causes significant problems because the whole concept of article use is alien to Russian learners of English, and the English article system itself is extremely complex.

Yet, with regard to @Bethel's parlance, I shall leave that to you as moderator.

Kindly,
Rhema

And I'm not sure why.

We ALL have areas in which we have no standing. I have no standing to adjudicate before the Supreme Court of the US. I also have no standing to design a bridge or skyscraper. But I do believe I have standing to comment on certain aspects of New Testament doctrine as it relates to the initial language in which it was written. So when someone says to me:
Listen carefully......
One ought to ask why.

The enemy is a cunning adversary.
Yes, he gets people to disobey and go off by themselves, to create new doctrines from languages in which scripture wasn't written, changing them from what actually was written.

Bethel, Br. Bear, Rhema, and Bill ( Me ) let us all stop for a moment and breath some air .

We are all brothers and sisters of our Lord Jesus , maybe we should stop altogether and walk out of here as friends .

The only one really enjoying this walks around with a pitchfork.

May the peace and love of the Most High always be with us.

Belt of Truth

Breastplate of Righteousness

Shield of Faith

Armor of God

The armor of God is described in Ephesians 6:10-18. In this passage we are told that our primary battles are of a spiritual nature and that we need spiritual armor to be able to stand firm in the midst of these battles. The armor includes the following pieces:

Belt of truth: The belt of truth is the first item in our arsenal. A belt holds the other pieces of clothing and armor together. It secures the outfit and allows a soldier to move freely. Truth both secures us and gives us freedom (John 8:32). One of Satan's greatest offensive tactics is to deceive us; he is the "father of lies" (John 8:44). With the belt of truth around our waists, we are prepared to defend against this. This truth also applies to the way we live our lives. When we live with honesty and integrity, the other pieces of our armor – what could be considered our spiritual selves – stay intact. A life of integrity is not easily torn asunder.

Breastplate of righteousness: The breastplate of righteousness covers our hearts and other vital organs. In a sense, the breastplate covers the most vulnerable areas of a warrior. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." The righteousness that guards a believer's heart is the righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Shoes of Peace: Our feet are to be "fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace" (Ephesians 6:15 NIV). Because we know the good news of Christ and by that knowledge experience peace in Him (John 14:27), our feet are willing to move. In obedience to Christ, we will flee temptations (1 Corinthians 10:14; 1 Timothy 6:11; 2 Timothy 2:22) and walk into whatever He has called us to (Psalm 86:11; Isaiah 30:21; John 15:10).

Shield of faith: The shield of faith is used to "extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one" (Ephesians 6:16). When Satan attacks us, our faith in Christ lessens the blow. We are able to withstand the attack because we know whom we have believed (2 Timothy 1:12).

Helmet of salvation: A helmet protects the brain, basically our minds. It is because of salvation that our minds can be sound. We are assured of our eternities, and made righteous recipients of peace, practitioners of faith, and knowers of truth. Our minds are protected because of Jesus' work on the cross; we have been given the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:12-16). A helmet can also serve as a signifier. When the enemy looks at us, he sees that we belong to Christ. We carry with us the seal of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14).

Sword of the Spirit: The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. This includes God's written Word (the Bible), God's incarnate Word (Jesus as Logos), and God's spoken Word (the Holy Spirit within us). The sword is the one offensive weapon in the list. We are told, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12). Second Timothy 3:16 (NIV) speaks of Scripture as being "God-breathed." When God spoke creation came into existence. He breathed life into man. There is power in the Word of God; this is why it is our best offense.

credit: What is the full armor of God?
How does one put the full armor of God on? By placing our confidence & our faith in Jesus Christ to finish His work in us to His glory each as we look to Him every day, trusting Him in being our Good Shepherd & Friend in helping us to lay aside every weight & sin in running that race for the high prize of our calling to be that vessel unto honor in His House for when the Bridegroom comes.

Romans 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrews 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:... 11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

I do have to contest this. I mean it sounds good and all. But the Word says "
Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
CJB
Use all the armor and weaponry that God provides, so that you will be able to stand against the deceptive tactics of the Adversary.
NIV
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

God provideded it all. Providing though, does not equate with using it. The Word tells us to put it on. So if YOU do not put it on, it is not on automatically.

This is the armor of God.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
CLAIM AND WALK IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
WALK IN LOVE IN PEACE

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
TAKING UP THE SHIELD OF FAITH (CANNOT BE DONE FOR YOU)

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
AGAIN...RECEIVING OR TAKING SALVATION.

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

ACTIVELY PRAYING, DOING SPIRITUAL WARFARE ETC
You said it well @Bendito

Whole armor (πανοπλίαν)
Panoply is a transcript of the Greek word. Only here, Eph_6:13, and Luk_11:22, see note. In classical Greek of the full armor of a heavy-armed soldier. The student may compare the description of the forging of Aeneas' armor by Vulcan (Virgil, “Aeneid,” viii., 415-459), and of the armor itself as displayed to Aeneas by Venus (“Aeneid,” viii., 616-730). Also of the armor of Achilles (Homer, “Iliad,” xviii., 468-617).
Wiles (μεθοδείας)
See on Eph_4:14. The armor is a defense against strategy as well as assault.
The devil (τοῦ διαβόλου)
See on Mat_4:1; see on Joh_6:70. In Job and Zechariah used as the equivalent of Satan (hater or accuser, see on Luk_10:18), of a single person, the enemy of mankind. In the other Old-Testament passages in which it occurs, it is used to translate either Satan or its equivalent in meaning, tsar (adversary, distresser), but without the same reference to that single person. See Sept., 1Ch_21:1; Est_7:4; Est_8:1; Psa_108:6; Num_22:32. The Septuagint usage implies enmity in general, without accusation either true or false. In the New Testament invariably as a proper name, except in the Pastoral Epistles, where it has its ordinary meaning slanderous. See 1Ti_3:11; 2Ti_3:3; Tit_2:3. As a proper name it is used in the Septuagint sense as the equivalent of Satan, and meaning enemy.

Who is putting on the panoplia of YHVH?
Us, not YHVH.

Put on (endusasthe). Like Eph_3:12. See also Eph_4:24.
The whole armour (tēn panoplian). Old word from panoplos (wholly armed, from pan, hoplon). In N.T. only Luk_11:22; Eph_6:11, Eph_6:13. Complete armour in this period included “shield, sword, lance, helmet, greaves, and breastplate” (Thayer). Our “panoply.” Polybius gives this list of Thayer. Paul omits the lance (spear). Our museums preserve specimens of this armour as well as the medieval coat-of-mail. Paul adds girdle and shoes to the list of Polybius, not armour but necessary for the soldier. Certainly Paul could claim knowledge of the Roman soldier’s armour, being chained to one for some three years.
That ye may be able to stand (pros to dunasthai humās stēnai). Purpose clause with pros to and the infinitive (dunasthai) with the accusative of general reference (humās) and the second aorist active infinitive stēnai (from histēmi) dependent on dunasthai. Against (pros). Facing. Another instance of pros meaning “against” (Col_2:23).
The wiles of the devil (tas methodias tou diabolou). See already Eph_4:14 for this word. He is a crafty foe and knows the weak spots in the Christian’s armour.
Robertson

Put on. Gr. enduō (S# G1746, Mat_6:25). Aorist middle imperative. One of four imperatives in the immediate context: Eph_6:10, be strong; Eph_6:11, Put on; Eph_6:13, take unto you, or you must take up; Eph_6:14, Stand therefore, or you must stand. FS7, Allegory by continued Hypocatastasis, +Gal_4:24, The imperative is a command from one will to another will, given in anticipation of a volitional response. So the will plays a vital role in spiritual matters—volition is involved in response to the Divine imperative!

But when men are deceived, the will is rendered ineffective, thus one cannot meet the conditions given by God. Satan’s design is not deception for the deception’s sake, but to induce volitional paralysis, to render men passive, to neutralize the will, so that the Divine imperatives cannot be carried out (Mat_8:22, Mar_1:15, Act_16:31, 2Co_5:20)! Note further, Paul uses the middle voice five times in Eph_6:11-17, The middle voice represents the subject as acting in relation to itself, as being intimately involved in the action and participating in the results of the action. You must put on for yourselves (Eph_6:11); having tightened for yourselves (Eph_6:14); having put on for yourselves (Eph_6:14, Eph_6:15); take for yourselves (Eph_6:17); for yourselves shows the significance of the middle voice. The armor is supplied by God, but must be put on by us (Lavender NT, fn d). The shield of faith (τὸν θυρεὸν τῆς πίστεως)
Θυρεόν shield, is from θύρα door, because shaped like a door. Homer uses the word for that which is placed in front of the doorway. Thus of the stone placed by Polyphemus in front of his cave (“Odyssey,” ix., 240). The shield here described is that of the heavy infantry; a large, oblong shield, four by two and a half feet, and sometimes curved on the inner side. Sculptured representations may be seen on Trajan's column. Compare “Compass him as with a shield,” Psa_5:12. It was made of wood or of wicker-work, and held on the left arm by means of a handle. Xenophon describes troops, supposed to be Egyptians, with wooden shields reaching to their feet (“Anabasis,” i., 8, 9). Saving faith is meant.
Vincent

Above all, taking the shield of faith,.... Which may be understood either of the grace of faith, which is like a golden shield, precious, solid, and substantial; and like a shield of mighty men, by which mighty things are done, and by which the believer not only repels, but conquers the enemy. The Jews say (n), that repentance and good works are as a shield against divine vengeance: or rather of the object of faith, that which faith makes use of as a shield; so God himself is a shield, Gen_15:1; his divine perfections, as his power, faithfulness, truth, and immutability, which encompass the saints as a shield, and are opposed by faith to the temptations of Satan; also the love and favour of God, Psa_5:12; and particularly God in his word, Pro_30:5, which is a shield against false doctrines, and the wiles of Satan. Moreover, Christ is a shield, Psa_84:11; and faith makes rise of him as a shield, his person, blood, righteousness, and sacrifice; which it holds up and opposes to all the charges and objections of Satan; and who is the saints' protection, and security from the wrath of God, divine justice, and eternal death. The disciples of the wise men are said to be (o) תריסון, "shielded men", who, as the gloss says fight in the war of the law; but they are not like Christ's disciples, who have on the shield, and fight the fight of faith: and this is "above all" to be taken, as being the most useful part of the Christian armour; or "with all", with the rest, this is to be taken, and by no means to be neglected; and it is to be used "in all"; in every temptation of Satan, in every conflict with that enemy, or any other.
Gill

...but the Imperative is on us to TAKE UP the whole armor of YHVH!

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
