The day the earth was about to be created was on the first day, the first day was created as there was evening and morning that day and every day after that as in 24 hours.

Genesis 1:1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The following verses begins on how God did that.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then after the day was created as evening and morning that day, so began the creation of earth as a water planet with an upper atmosphere the second day.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Then after the second day, God created land, that one land mass with plant life but with all the water in one place and thus finished creating the planet earth that third day.

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Everything in the heavens that we see today was created the fourth day. That means all the source for those lights that are billions of light years away were created and God said for those lights to shined upon the earth that fourth day, hence He filled the gap in with their lights to shine on the earth that fourth day.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Now some will say that is deceptive for God to do that? Really? Even science had posed the question which came first, the chicken or the egg? The chicken of course, to tale care of the egg. So we have seen in Genesis how God created plant life full grown bearing fruits & seeds and so with animals also as they are full grown adults as Adam & eve were. So there will be a maturity in the creation of the universe in how God set it up for the lights of the heavens to shine upon the earth that fourth day to give for signs for seasons, for days, and years.

So when science tells us how old the earth is, they do so without acknowledging God as creating the heavens all in one day, the fourth day.

The Bible - Genesis 1 - does not categorically teach that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.
That is mediaeval Roman Catholic doctrine and subsequent translations of the Hebrew use "day" to fit such false doctrine.
Remember that the Popes insisted with the use of a sword that the Earth was in the centre of the solar system and even the Sun revolved around our planet.
This also was "Biblical" and taught as doctrine.

Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
1:4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.
1:5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

There is much mystery for us mere mortals as to how exactly God (Jesus) created space and matter and time out of nothing.
In verse 3 light appeared over our featureless planet - light came into the world and shone upon our world before the creation of our Sun and Moon.
That light was of course GOD - bright enough to enable green plants to photosynthesise before the creation of the natural light of our Sun. [the light of life]

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 12:46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

5 Proofs For the Existence of God

Secrets of the Cosmos that Confirm the Bible - Dr. Jason Lisle

Here is more than enough to add to the countless evidence of a Young Earth.
Since our home is roughly 6000 years old then the fact that everything "began" not too long ago should be mind blowing.

Scripture does teach that the creation is only 6,000 years old.
The Bible in Genesis 2 teaches us that Adam and Eve were both formed [not created] 6,000 years ago.
On the eighth "day" after God had rested from his previous works.

There's no valid, efficient tool for "science" to date anything "millions or billions of years old".
If our sun was "billions" of years old it would have used up it's fuel long before our planet "cooled".

Just because the Popes made errors, does not mean the Bible did, and I was quoting the Bible.

If you note, the very beginning of creation was the start of the first day by its evening and morning that day. That can only be a 24 hour period, brother, as each day after that ended with, there was evening and morning that day as well.

Thank you for sharing.

And although plant life was created before the fourth day when the heavens were created, plant life was sustained by the light of the world; Jesus as the Word of God, the Creator, at creation.

@MedicBravo

The event of Genesis 1:1 actually ended in Genesis 2:3 about how God created the heavens and the earth. Keep in mind that numbered chapters and verses were not originally part of scripture.

Beginning in Genesis 2:4 is the rehashing of the event of the sixth day but in detail in regards to the generations of mankind. This is not a following event after creation week as if happening on the 8th day.

Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

The end of verse 5 is proof that this is a rehashing of the event of the 6th day when there was no man to till the ground yet; nada, non-existent... hence no Adam yet. This is why there was no rain until the global flood had happened when everything was being misted like a greenhouse nursery effect as taken care of by God to do in according to His words. Think of Old Faithful, but many of that including the mid Atlantic Range of mountains under the ocean now as being responsible for how the fountains of the deep was misting the whole earth.

Also, the point of Adam naming Eve is significant as she really was the mother of all the living.

Genesis 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

It was when Israel became a nation was when it was wrong to commit incest since Abaraham had married his sister, the daughter of his father but not his mother, hence before God gave the command for Israel not to intermarry any more since they have a whole nation to mingle with that were not immediate family.

Genesis 20:11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.
12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

So the answer as to where Cain got his wife is known by how Adam and Eve had other children besides Cain & Abel and so that was why Cain was afraid because every person on the earth is related to him for why they would take vengeance on him for killing Abel whom was their relative also. So Cain either married a sister, a niece, or a cousin, but she was a relative as Eve was the "mother" of all the living; akin to the greatest grandmother ever if that be the case.

There are errant dating results as proven within human history and so there is no way science can prove accurate dating results past known human history.

Example is living mollusks carbon dated as 2,300 years old dead; mortar from an English castle less then 800 years old tested at 7,370 years, and fresh seal skins dated at 1,300 years old * Reference from Kofahl, Robert E. Handy Dandy Evolution Refuter, Beat Books, San Diego, 1977, p. 119 citing several scientific journals.

Fallible sinful men in science will start lying about these carbon dating errant test results to make carbon dating still reliable. as this web site had done as if they can speak for all errant dating results.; DID RADIOCARBON DATING ONCE INDICATE THAT A LIVING MOLLUSK HAD BEEN DEAD FOR 3,000 YEARS?

Do you believe that the earth is flat also?
The Bible doesn't either.

Isaiah 40:21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Just because the Catholic Church mistaken these verses as inferring the earth was flat when in actuality, it was a metaphor for referencing a whole map of the world or a flat global map if you will

Isaiah 11:12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Revelation 7:1And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Simply not true.
The Hebrew does not specify a 24 hour day - that is Roman theology.
24 hour days are irrelevant to Genesis 1.
There was no Sun nor Moon nor planets to mark out the days and the seasons as we experience time.

In verse 3 there was no planet as verse 2 testified to it as being without form and void, meaning not as we use void to mean today as something having been emptied, but meaning it just wasn't there.

It was the second day that the earth began to take shape as a water planet with an upper atmosphere.
That is a very fanciful and dubious reading of Genesis.
But I guess if you want to post incredible hypotheses about the creation sequence then you need to be speculative about scripture.

Not only are you reading into scripture what is not there but you are adding to scripture also what is not there.
In Genesis 4 there were no other siblings for Cain to marry, and Seth was born after Cain departed.
Genesis 1 is not the same creation story as Genesis 2.
In Genesis 1 human beings were created and these different races or types of people dispersed geographically to occupy various land masses [now broken up after the Flood of Genesis 6].
So yes there were other people outside of Eden that Cain could marry - which is exactly what scripture teaches.

@Waggles You are wrong about Genesis.
To think Adam and Eve stopped at 3 children is absurd. You also forget people lived a very long time back then and aged a lot slower so by definition Adam and Eve not only had a lot of children but Cain, Abel, and the rest would have children with and marry their siblings and cousins.
The human genetic line was so pure for so long. God didn't create unrelated groups of people for them to find and marry.
Genesis 1 and 2 are different?
Please elaborate how you came to this "epiphany".

Since evening and morning was the first day and every day even after the fourth day of creating the sun and the moon, I would say that 24 hour day has been established from the beginning & I believe that is the truth.

That is a very fanciful and dubious reading of Genesis.

Just citing what the scriptures says, brother.

The key here is if there was a planet, why was the upper atmosphere created and the surface of this pre earth was a water planet only on the second day when land only appeared the third day?

Reread the first day and may the Lord help you to see what has been plainly written of what was created that actual first day and it was the first day that was created being how there was evening ad morning that day.

Regardless of the sun and the moon being created the fourth day, it conveniently aligned with there was evening and morning as we know it to be a 24 hours day each day now.

Not only are you reading into scripture what is not there but you are adding to scripture also what is not there.
In Genesis 4 there were no other siblings for Cain to marry, and Seth was born after Cain departed.
That is your assumption since Adam and Eve were commanded to multiply and they did not stop after Cain & Abel were born. The point of Abel is how Seth was born to replace Abel as the godly lineage from which Israel's family tree is traced to.
Eve was named as the mother of all the living by Adam and so the Bible does not lie. There were no other parents when Adam & Eve were created as the second creation account was the sixth day rehashing of the event of the creation of mankind but in more detail that 6th day.

If you discern with Him, if there were other parents, then Cain could flee to them without worrying about the repercussions of having killed a relative of theirs, but he did worry because all that was living, they were directly related to as Eve was the mother of all the living in one form or fashion & so Cain had reasons to fear.
