No, that is what you think...all I have said is that we do not want to sin, but we are saved from the consequences of sin.
  • No, the law was perfect but man was not, so God established another covenant where he would look at our sin no more, not that we would sin no more.
  • I see you failed to answer my question:
    1. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.......do you know what kind of love this is?
If you didn't want to sin you wouldn't commit sin.
I didn't want to continue hurting myself and others, and God sent folks to show me the way to do that.
Turn from sin." (Matt 5:48)
Get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of my past sins.
Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Pray, read, study, fellowship, avoid all occurrences of sin.
Testify to those I still hold dear, but expect to be cast off.
Help the needy.

BTW, your comment regarding "perfect man" may have been documentable in the OT but not anymore.
It is written..."Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matt 5:48)
Not everybody hates Jesus enough to disregard His commandment.

Greetings @At Peace (& @Br. Bear )
I am trying to establish whether I am understanding you correctly.
This is not attacking your testimony brother At Peace......but instead seeking understanding.
Are you stating that since you have been saved you have never ever committed a 'sin', a wrongdoing, an unwholesome thought....and so forth?
Hello, FG.
That is exactly what I am stating...to the glory of God and with a million thanks to my lord Jesus Christ.

Below I am adding a personal experience to 'back up' my struggle with what I believe you are saying....
I was saved at age age of 11, but in my early adulthood backslid into a life of terrible sin and immorality. No doubt about it I was sinning.
However, through that whole dark time, the indwelling Spirit of God convicted me and spoke in a little voice into my heart, in the most amazing ways wooing me back to the Lord. I was never happy/ comfortable during those dark years, I praise the Lord for that.
However, as a Christian I did sin back then and wilfully so.
Christians still sin....we all do.
Whilst we are flesh there will be a continual battle against the spirit.
But the battle is won and sin no longer has dominion
How does that experience stack up against John's words in 1 John 3:8-10?
Those born of God cannot commit sin.
The "flesh problem" was fixed with adherence to Romans 6:3-6.
The results being written in verse 7.

Also I believe John is addressing believers here in the verses below....how do you interpret these scriptures?
If any man see his (Christian) brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.
1 John 5:16
John didn't add "Christian" to the verse...you did.
John wanted the faithful to make available to men not yet in the faith, repentance from sin and life in Christ.
The sins unto death are those not repented of.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Colossians 3:8-9
Excellent exhortations.
Kinda hard to say one is a Christian if they ignore such loving words.

Turn from sin and bring forth a testimony worthy of God.

If you didn't want to sin you wouldn't commit sin.
I didn't want to continue hurting myself and others, and God sent folks to show me the way to do that.

It is not that all easy to decipher things through cyber-space and the written word....So, let me get this straight:
  1. You are telling us that everybody that disagrees with you , "Hates Jesus" ? Or,is it just me?
  2. You refuse to answer the question: " What kind of Love is this"? as found in the Bible verse:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
Isaiah 50:1-3

Greetings,

with a million thanks to my lord Jesus Christ.

that's a good start!
I think all who have come to the knowledge of Him and have the hope in them given, can give thanks and it is with a grateful heart that we all can and should love one another knowing that it is not of ourselves that we are able to cry Abba, Father

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15

Praise the Lord!

Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Psalm 33:1

Wilt Thou not revive us again: that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?
Shew us Thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us Thy salvation.

I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him; that glory may dwell in our land.

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
Righteousness shall go before Him; and shall set us in the way of His steps.
Psalm 85:6-13

Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Psalm 71:20

So will not we go back from Thee: quicken us, and we will call upon Thy name. Psalm 80:18

I don't know about you all But I get excited and glad when I read these things. Our God is Faithful, He is True, He is Just, He is Holy; our Redeemer and our King

please expand the following and read it...
1Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

2Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

3For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

4Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

5For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

6For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

7For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

8In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

9For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

10For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

11O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

12And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.

13And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

14In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

15Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

16Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the LORD. Isaiah 54

and should we ignore these words from Jeremiah chapter 7?
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Stand in the gate of the LORD'S house, and proclaim there this word, and say,

Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD. 3
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; And come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say,

We are delivered to do all these abominations?

Is this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.

Bless you ....><>

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1Corinthians 15:56-58

For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. 2Corinthians 10:18

1 John 1:8
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

John use the word we here so he includes himself,

Greetings Dave,

yes, and it is we who should build one another (we) up and if we as a body find that we have been sinning, we need to get serious about encouraging one another (we) to stop sinning and we can do that by looking to the Lord and remembering what He has done for us (we).

If you ask me, if there is one less sinner in the world, praise the Lord!

Regarding the Scripture you quoted, I am not all that sure that anyone has really looked too much at it but instead use it to try to prove another wrong because they do not sin.

I know I certainly haven't sinned since the last time I did... so that is a good start. I want to keep it that way. And if i do.. am I deluded?
Please notice and see if you can spot the difference...

All have sinned
All do sin

If I was to say I have not sinned I would be doing so to justify myself and basically be saying i don't need saving, I don't need a Saviour. That is how I used to be, Dave. Why I am allowed to now be part of God's family is beyond human understanding.
If we say we have not sinned we are saying we do not need a Saviour, either.

From what i have seen, everyone has said that have sinned (on these threads), everyone. So, so far, nobody has deceived themselves. I think, too, that we can agree that everyone confesses that they need a Saviour, too.

What we really need to be considering is not what we didn't do but what are we doing?
When the Lord separates the sheep from the goats, is it about anyone not sinning? (those who have in their life done the commendable things have in fact been not sinning in doing them)
We can't take care of any sins we have committed, only the Lord can and has. But, we can determine to not sin again.
Jesus said to the woman, "neither do I condemn you... go and sin no more".
He did not say, "you who sin are entitled to cast stones".
Forgiveness is from Him by grace. He is the giver of life. not us.
Let Him finish the work He has started and let us be found faithful when He returns.

Bless you ....><>

I do not support building people up that have false doctrines,

I simply try to show them scripture that show the light and let scripture speak for itself.

In the most positive way possible with out name calling or negative comments. Its a work in progress ;)

yes, i try that too, sometimes. But i don't know if anyone either reads the Scripture or takes any notice. [you might have noticed the post above yours?]

I was thinking about my comment.
I thought how sad it is, since i often labour over it all and put my all into it for you all.... and then, the Lord gently reminded me...
He laboured and gave His all, while we were yet sinners... and do i ever stop to think how He feels... if it saddens Him that so many take no notice of Him and what He has told us and done. because He loves us.... and all He wants us to do is love one another with a pure heart.
Is it that hard?

Sobering

we know that a person here claims Jesus is not God.

We know he claims anyone who commits a sin is not a born again christian and not saved.

My dear brother this person does not need encouragement he needs correction in the most loving way possible.

I am not sure I even know how to do it, I just post scripture and hope the light comes through.

bear what happens if we have a brother who is going around spreading the wrong gospel??

I am all for not sinning no more I honestly can not remember the last time I sinned un-purpose . HOWEVER that took a long time to get to this point a lot of maturing and obedience.

Now if I had a mentor who was constantly telling me you are not saved because you stumbled in sin, or once you are born again you will never sin anymore, that could lead to people falling away.

Most do not become mature Christian who all of the sudden stop sinning over night, and this is exactly what is being said by this person, this is dangerous false teaching.

Greetings again Dave,

I realise your hearts intent is to do good and that makes you very special to me. I often feel ashamed that i can not always say the same for myself.

I do not think that many realise exactly what the person you refer to is saying. Much seems to be misread and if you ask me, we all need (all, not excluding anyone).. we all need our heads knocking together at times and we need to wake up.
We can do this by going to the Lord.
That is good if we do it but we need to do it as a we. This is where a lot goes wrong.
We forget too easily that we are a Body and the whole point of love SHOUTS that to us even in whispers (as Nick so put it) [ @Christ4Ever ]

Regarding the Scripture you posted above. From 1John.

May i ask a few questions, to you and all...

who was John writing to?
who was John an Apostle to (Paul was sent to the Gentiles)?
who was John calling brothers?
what/how does he start his letter?

to answer the last question...
in 1John chapter 1 verse 3
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

What I see is that John is telling/reminding the readers of what Jesus said.
All have sinned... except Him, and in Him is no darkness at all.
All must turn from sin, because all have sinned and if anyone says they haven't, they are lying.
The people did not like Jesus and tried to fault Him but could not so they made up false witness against Him.
This is what we have seen and heard and declare unto you..... why?

Look again without trying to read into it and see if it is not claiming the message that Jesus spoke to the Jews.
Through and through, it is.

If we were to relay what Jesus taught (and Who he is/was in regard to sin), what would we say? Could we do better than John has done?

Bless you Dave ....><>

(I have to go now, so won't be replying for a while..... zzzzzzz)

run the race, Dave. Wait upon the Lord and be of good courage.

I have plenty to put forth for both camps but it is hard to get around to it!

I understand that you have concerns for others and that is fine, but do not forget that He Who began His good work will finish it.

Some fall away and make excuses.

Do you love the person you are referring to? If so, enter dialogue with that in mind. Light expels darkness as well as exposes it. We all should keep that in mind when posting.
You are meant to be an epistle to be read (as we all are) and the Light and Salt of the earth.
Someone brought the meat... where is the salt?

It is not that all easy to decipher things through cyber-space and the written word....So, let me get this straight:
  1. You are telling us that everybody that disagrees with you , "Hates Jesus" ? Or,is it just me?
  2. You refuse to answer the question: " What kind of Love is this"? as found in the Bible verse:
1 Corinthians 13 : 4-7 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Disagrees with ME?
No, as they are disagreeing with God.
Jesus said..."No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other." (Matt 6:24)
As Jesus has also said that "they who commit sin are the servants of sin", (John 8:34), it stands to reason that sinners hate God.

  1. You refuse to answer the question: " What kind of Love is this"? as found in the Bible verse:

This is the kind of love only the repentant can produce.

John use the word we here so he includes himself,
"If we say that we have fellowship with him, (God), and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:" (1 John 1:6)
Is John walking in darkness?
I don't think so, as he has provided the other way to walk in verse 7.
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
I sure am glad ALL my sins were washed away by the blood of Christ.
And I am grateful for the ability to remain here in the light.
