1 John 1:8
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

John use the word we here so he includes himself,

Greetings Dave,

perhaps we need also to look at the big picture and cease from limiting God to our time frame?

I have sinned. You have sinned. At Peace has sinned. All have sinned. (I know that us three can and do recognise that fact and confess it. We do not deny that.)

Can someone please tell me when I sinned? No, sorry. That should be, could someone please tell me when our sins were nailed to the Cross?
Can someone please tell me if the Salvation we talk about in Jesus Christ has an end?
Can someone please tell me if the Blood Shed has ceased to cover sin? and, if so, when?
Can someone please tell me how it is in 2018 that the sins of today can be covered by what Jesus, the Son of God, did in dying and fulfilling the Law?

You see, the forgiveness is endless and at the same time has no beginning nor end. That forgiveness is still valid, so the sin it covers and forgives is now part of our history but it is still a sin committed that required penalty.

When will the Life purchased for us expire?

And, when the Lord washed us, was it a one time thing or is His cleansing eternal?

We like to say that God knows everything. That is quite kind to acknowledge that, even generous. Perhaps he left a few sins not yet committed in our time frame out? Do you think that He might have?
So, whether I sin today or last century, is it the same forgiveness that He offers or does He have a different one?

Are we exhorted to sin? NO!
Are we exhorted to cease from sinning? YES!

I was thinking about the woman brought to Him who had been caught in adultery. He said He did not condemn her... and go, and sin no more.
Do you think He is a bit cruel to say that to her. She didn't even have the Pentecost experience under her belt. I suppose Jesus figured it might deter her for a while?
It was asking a bit much wasn't it? Or was it a command, from God?

How could a woman do such a thing? How could anyone do such a thing? Sin no more.

Perhaps God is in the business of asking/commanding us to do things we can't do.

If so, why would He do that? Perhaps to make us realise we are still men in need of a Saviour.

Bless you ....><>

Disagrees with ME?
No, as they are disagreeing with God.
Jesus said..."No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other." (Matt 6:24)
As Jesus has also said that "they who commit sin are the servants of sin", (John 8:34), it stands to reason that sinners hate God.

This is the kind of love only the repentant can produce.
  • So, finally we are getting somewhere, thank you.
  • So, you are presenting us here your theology and shouldn't mind so more questioning!
  • You have said or insinuated several disagreeable things to me and I only think it is fair for me to ask for clarification on some of these:
  1. You have stated such , so I am assuming, as compared to how you interpret scripture, you love Jesus / God and I do not, is that correct?
  2. You stated that , regarding 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,"This is the kind of love only the repentant can produce". So my question to you @At Peace ,you being a Repentant, you produce this this kind of love, 24/7, everyday, day in and day out , for the rest of you life? Please, no dissertations on what the KJV says, do you or do you do this kind of love perfectly, yes or no?...thank you in advance?

  1. You have stated such , so I am assuming, as compared to how you interpret scripture, you love Jesus / God and I do not, is that correct?
Scripture states...
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15)
"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:" (John 14:21)
"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me."
"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." (1 John 2: 3-4)
Answer your own question.

  1. You stated that , regarding 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,"This is the kind of love only the repentant can produce". Yes.
My future is in my hands, but God has provided everything necessary to remain repentant from sin till I am called home.
Praise and glory to God the Almighty who is capable of every good thing...including protecting us from temptation. (1 Cor 10:13)
Those promises are available to you too.

Yes.

  • So let me get this straight for me and anyone tuning in here at TJ.:
  1. We are not talking about the "Dirty Dozen" or the "Nasty Five" of sins. But, we all know about God's or Agape love as found in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.
  2. I would think that failure to do one of these, at any time, would be , all be-it in man's eye not too sinful to fail at, but never the less, failure to do one of these kinds of love, would be a sin.
  3. You, , can do this Agape Love, 24 /7, day in day out, with out fail for all of your life!
  4. Congratulations!

I'm always happy to answer questions from those seeking the righteousness of God.
  • I have found a righteous God.
  • But, while I am it, and you said you would answer anything!
  • Along the way of many of our posts with each other, You said what was tantamount to me not loving Jesus / God!
  • Since, I don't believe as you do:
  1. Is that right that I do not love Jesus/God? and,
  2. You stated that I was not saved?

. What I do not support (and you seem to encourage) is the fact that our perfect brother says a Christian is not a Christian if a person stumbles in sin. This is the heart of the matter my freind.. I know and love you Bear I know your heart is great and you do not like to see negativity but dear brother we should not encourage false doctrine. Correct him in the most living way possible. I got nothing but love for you Bear and Peace as well, because I am sure he loves Jesus thats the most important thing.

And I do not want to sound like I am encouraging a Christian to sin, but when I became born again (probably only 2 years ago) I struggled with some stuff and finally after many times of repentance I was set free, but if we have someone going around preaching if you sin one time your not a christian people may get discouraged and it is simply not true.

This is the meat of the issue I see he does not allow anything in his theology for Christian maturity to come about. Many of our brothers much better versed then I have given him many great lesson on Christian maturity, it seems to have escaped him.

But have you sinned since you became a Christian? AtPeace says he has not. Ever. Not once. Can you say the same?
Not only that, AtPeace says if you have sinned since you became a Christian... you are not a Christian.

Your previous sins were nails to the cross at the moment of Salvation. Your future sins are nailed as you repent and confess.

When does the salvation have an end... this will open a can or worms about OSAS.. but I can go there if you really want to. ( Heb 6:4-6; is a start )

When does the blood cease to cover sin?
Heb 10:26; For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

How can the sins of today be covered? See the answers to the previous 3 questions.

  • Not according to @At Peace and that is the rub.
  • Has also told me ,in fewer words or less, that , because I am not sinless like him, I do not love Jesus and I am not saved, which he does and is!

Heb 10:26; For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
There you go @At Peace ,...the key word is willfully and that is the same as in the KJV! And that would be the same as on purpose or sinning purposely!

Can someone please tell me if the Blood Shed has ceased to cover sin? and, if so, when?

Jesus did not just cover our sin, he removed them a far as the east is from the west. (Psa 103:12) Why do you suppose we still need his blood for today if our sins have already been removed?

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.

How does one wash their robes?

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Why would I need to be cleansed again, if I am already cleansed?

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Why would I need to be cleansed again, if I am already cleansed?

Rev 3:4; But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.

Heb 12:15; See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;

Greetings,

Your previous sins were nails to the cross at the moment of Salvation. Your future sins are nailed as you repent and confess.

the cross is now empty.
If the sins of the world were nailed to it while Jesus was upon it..ie, through His hands and feet, then surely He allowed and chose that for all sin?

Bless you ....><>

yes, I realise that and knew as I was typing and decided to go with the word cover, understanding that most here would understand what I meant by using that term which we all tend to be happy with if the case fits. However, you are right also in pointing hat out.

The second part.... why do you suppose ....
is that a stupid question or a sincere one? I shall attempt to answer.
Perhaps I should simplify it. One of the Prophets did similar to what I am about to do.
No, we don't because as you say, our sins have been removed, ours being the whole world (according to Scripture) Nobody needs the blood any more.
It is something of historical significance and has no part any more in man's life.

Or is it this way...?
Jesus died but His shed blood did not remove any man's sin past that time while He was on the cross. And while we are at it, only those who believed and obeyed had their sins removed.

Does that sound better?

Bless you ....><>

Greetings,

,,,and that is the rub.

could one of you wise men please explain what this means?
Are we so bent on all this that we totally forget that we are able to be not rubbed? In fact we are advised/suggested to/commanded/exhorted to walk and talk differently and base our reactions via Jesus and through Him.
He must be feeling like fleas biting Him at present if we are of any significance to Him at all.

but who cares how He feels

Greetings,

if a person stumbles in sin.

a person stumbling does not equate to sin, or does it and i am missing something?
a man who sins, sins. What is so difficult with that?
A man who has sinned has sinned, equally easy to understand.

our sins remain until...
or,
our sins are removed already on the Cross (or, perhaps even way before ?)
or,
we repent
or,
our sins are covered
or,
our sins remain until we stop sinning?

But, which ever way you me or anyone comes at it, if one sins, one sins.
What is the remedy for sin?
Is there a balm in Gilead?
