Blessed be Your Name!
Thank-you Father God for allowing the opportunity to help another!
Out shopping before a snow storm hits the area
at least as far as the folks around here are used to having around here. So, it's busy and the usual stuff being taken. Bread, milk, flour, eggs, etc. Waiting in line with a couple of folks in front of me and twice that behind me.
Well, the lady in front of me I could tell was having a hard time unloading her stuff from the cart. I could see the back brace she was wearing, while she complained of not having been able to get one of the handicap motorized carts for her to use, being so busy and all. She had to voice her complaint.
with the cashier looked on with disapproval, and a look that said. "I can't get out of here fast enough!". Regardless, I had to offer to help. I asked permission to help and a look of surprise rose to her face and so I took that as permission to do so.
Paying for her stuff, was also a trial. She had a card to pay, and some money to make up the difference, but after more than a few tries with the card it finally worked, but it left here shorter then she expected. Had to use what appeared to be the last of her money to pay. Still, it wasn't enough to pay for it all. So she set aside a few bottles of a drink, a cake mix, & icing.
Looking back at the line of folks behind me I could tell the folks were a bit exasperated at how long all this was taking, if not at the lady herself.
Still, I could only think that but for the grace of God there goes each one of us.
She started to put the bags she had paid for into her cart. Leaving those items she couldn't pay. It was at this time, that I looked at the cashier who still wasn't smiling, to ring up those items and put them in a bag for the lady. I'd take care of paying for them. The lady thanked me, being even more surprised then when I helped her unload her cart! I said I just couldn't see someone being denied the joys of having a cake with a snow storm coming up!
All of sudden I hear this young girl behind me say "Bless you", and others respond the same. Now it was my turn to be surprised. As these days continue to get dark & our Lord's return nears. I find that even doing small kindness' don't necessarily go acknowledged. Not that I was looking for any. I say "To the Glory of God"!
But, by the time I left, I had my blessing returned. I even had the cashier smiling. Told her that her smile was blessing enough for me and that I hope the rest of her shift would go quickly.
Not much, but still something I can rejoice in. Because I know my faith is not much, but I'm forever grateful to the Father that He allows me the small things to do.
Thank-you once again Father.
Your Grace is Amazing!
Thank-you all for allowing me to share.
God's blessings.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.
