Once saved can we lose our salvation??

Brother Mike.

For "reasons unknown" you are not serious are you.

The note would highlight the verse "from all eternity you were not part of the elect".

From all eternity you were predestined to burn in the lake of fire for eternity. There is nothing you can do about that, it is the will of God.

Of course none of us understand the will of God Mike.

Just give Glory to God, cause in the end no one really knows who the elect really are. Oh, the assurance that gives me.

Who are you Mike to argue.

Good to read your posts as usual.

The general meaning of the text is that the servant misbehaved.
He says "‘My master is delaying his coming", now who I wonder was his master, hmmmm.

Hey Jari, I do not remember but which group of "God's will is sovereign"
do you belong to. There are many that I have seen in the past.

sorry david you lost me.. which group?

David You said one can never understand the will of God.

I'm sorry my friend. That's a religious statement not a true one.

You understand that the will of your earthly father is only for your good? Your blessing? GOD is no different. LOVE gives and gives and gives... You have a bible? And the HOLY SPIRIT to teach you? Do you think HE is unable to communicate in your language?

Of Course you can understand the will of GOD Just stop trying to figure it yourself and ask HIM.

You said "nobody really knows who the elect are"?

The first verse I ever learned. You should memorize it.

1 John 5:11-13 (King James Version)

11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 John 5:11-13 (Amplified Bible)

11And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life.
13I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in [a]the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, [b]yes, eternal life.

I am concerned.

Just give Glory to God, cause in the end no one really knows who the elect really are. Oh, the assurance that gives me.

Who are you Mike to argue.

Now that you mentioned it, I don't think my certificate has come in the mail yet.

El Hombre viejo

Whoa!!! partner!!! David's message was addressed me. It will be OK, just slowly put your Bible down and back away nice and easy... There ya go... OK, now.....................

Jesus is Lord.

lololololol Oh!! How wude is me? :-)

Sorry El Hombre viejo.

I was joking with Mike, I have a sometimes weird sense of humor.

I was referring to the ultra Calvinist position that is black stocking Calvinists.
They believe that Adam made no choice it was the will of God.
No man makes any choice due to the fallen nature.
Hence it is only God's Will that is significant.
So you are in the lake of fire due to the will of God.

So Mike should have seen the verse in his letter when he woke up.

Hi All.

This questions comes up a lot and i'm still not sure of the answer. But can we lose our salvation?. I've read scripures saying that all we need to do is confess with our mouths that Jesus is our saviour etc and we will then have eternal life but then i read about God punishing others like King david for his sins.
I have had a few struggles with commiting the same sin over and over and i really do repent and do the 180 but i then fall back into sin again. I love Jesus, and i do hate disappointing God and myself. But it always raises the question can you lose your salvation??...
Thanks in advance.. GOD BLESS

There are so many responses to this thread I didn't even attempt to wade through them, and I cannot measure another's faith, or their motives, but I believe I have everlasting life. 1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Oh I've heard of the vomited dog, and the wallowing sow in the mire, but I am now a sheep. What of free will; God will not force us to stay with us, and I can jump from God's hand huh? Well regardless of my unfaithfulness God has remained faithful to me and will lose me not.

Men may not have always known me by my fruit, but our Father always knows me when He see Jesus in me.

My thoughts.

Hi Romans.
I liked your post. You spoke my mind. I absolutely agree that Salvation is a two way street. It's not that God would ever abandon us, but just that we can and do at times abandon him. And that, like so many things in life, has consequences.
My God is a God of love and a God of Justice. Just as I do not believe that He would be unjust, I equally believe that what he does is loving.

It may be that believers who backslide will be the only ones punished in some temporary fashion (as Jari suggested), but I suspect that God's grace might even stretch father than that!

Anyway Romans, your post reminded me of Matt 18:22, where Jesus instructs Peter to forgive his brother seventy times seven. I find it reassuring that if God wants us to be so forgiving to each other then it is a very good indication of how much he is willing to forgive us!
So I hope that Shell84 takes some comfort in that.

Peace and love, Beans

... I can't answer for god...

But I have lost my salvation a few times in my life....

about 7 years back I lost my mom to cancer and it sent me on a 4 year god hating mission I tried to discount Jesus every way I could... I studied many different religions that were against god... even thought about converting to islam just to spite him...

that is until....

I found Jesus again.. on my own terms... and it changed my whole life since then...
now I feel better equipped to deal with unbelievers since I studied other faith's in detail.. so when I talk about Jesus with people and they are of a different religion they see that I am knowledgeable of their faith.. and that gets their respect right off the back...

thank you jesus for the life lessons

I don't believe God loses someone, then brings him back, loses someone, brings him back again, and so on. We stray, He doesn't. We are unfaithful, He isn't. Thanks and praise be to our almighty God that His far-reaching and loving grace isn't dependent on our whims and doings.

Amen to that Peace Seeker.

Thanks and praise be to our almighty God that His far-reaching and loving grace isn't dependent on our whims and doings.

I thank Jesus every day for everything, including the above.

Yes everything you said is very true.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. - John 10:28

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. - Deuteronomy 31:6

David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.- 1 Chronicles 28:20

So although we can depart from God and foolishly go our own way, he will always be with us, and waiting to accept us back.

Yeah. When something bad happens it can be hard to understand why God would let it happen. I think a lot of that comes from our perspective. Because we live in these bodies trapped in this dimension
we humans think that death is the end of everything. But from God's perspective death is probably not a big deal at all, because he knows what happens next and controls everything.
I think there a lot of people out there who are really hurting from losing loved ones and terrible things happening in their lives, and so they look for someone to blame. A lot of times they blame God and it takes a lot of soul searching and healing to see the good in the situation.
So yeah, life lessons! It's good to remember that one, especially when someone says "If God loves us, why does he let people suffer?".

Now think for a moment:

Beans:

Death no big deal to God? Is that so?

Php 2:26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
Php 2:27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

Eze 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Mar 5:35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
Mar 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

God controls everything?

No, he told us to choose to life or death, he told us to choose to be blessed or cursed. It's our choice.

Pro 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Jesus Is Lord.

Can we lose our salvation?

Think on this. Say you're not ready. Say you're living for yourself and not for HIM. Say you're not grounded in the WORD... All of a sudden you're faced with a choice. Live or claim Allah. Live and take the mark or die. What would you do?

The WORD says that anyone who takes the mark will go to hell. No salvation there.

And YES. There will be Christians who are not grounded who will take the mark of the beast.

Hi Mike.
It's a shame I did not get back to this thread sooner.

Death no big deal to God? Is that so?
Yes. that's what I think. Perhaps you misunderstood what I was saying? Are you going to argue that God does not understand death now? Or perhaps that HE fears it?
I'm not sure why you would want to argue a point like that.

Php 2:26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
Php 2:27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
And your point is?? Paul is talking about God having mercy on Epaphroditus and on himself also. Why? Because Epaphroditus did not want to die and neither did Paul want to lose him.
And this is supposed to convince us that death IS a big deal to God?

Eze 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
These verses are a bit more relevant. But still they do not support your case very well. I have no doubt that God does not take pleasure in people's suffering and death, but that is more for our sakes than his. These verses have little bearing on the point I made, that God is in control, and that he does not fear death.

And your point is? Jesus raised the girl from death? Therefore what I said is not true?

God controls everything?

No, he told us to choose to life or death, he told us to choose to be blessed or cursed. It's our choice.

Pro 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Jesus Is Lord.
Ok fine. My bad. So apart from free will, God controls everything.

Happy now?

Absolutely! I think most of the modern church is going to take the Mark, because they refuse to face up to what Jesus said about money!

Hey Beans

Hey Brother Beans. Thank you for the Response, but you waited for a bit, and after lots of other post, I am thinking, what is this?? Sort of caught me off guard.

Let me break it down for you Brother. We each have revelation, and understanding of things. Your comment was more in reference to time on God's perspective. I get it.

I suspect God puts up with all the things that go on down here because it's so brief in his eyes compared to eternity.

I see God as a Father, and one the perfects those things that concern me. Psa 138:8, So I just won't throw a blanket statement cover general things, encompassing the whole earth. I suspect many die, and God never even knew them.

Ok fine. My bad. So apart from free will, God controls everything.

Now this statement........ If God was in Control, it would match the End of revelation. That is what it looks like with God in control. Who is the god of this world?

Jesus is Lord.
