No! Salvation is free but we cant expect to get saved and sit back for the ride and do nothing.... If there was no need to do anything then Gods word would not say faith without works is dead. We are saved by faith, washed by the blood. But once we are saved we have a work to do for the LORD. Does it not say, friend, i'll show you my faith by my works! God says that he will not remember our sin...he does not say and you will sin no more.

The closest thing to support your belief is

Here is a paraphrasing of the above verse, including verse 10. This is a direct translation of the Bible original languages of (Greek and Hebrew):

People conceived and brought into life by God don't make a practice of sin. How could they? God's seed is deep within them, making them who they are. It's not in the nature of the God-begotten to practice and parade sin. Here's how you tell the difference between God's children and the Devil's children: The one who won't practice righteous ways isn't from God, nor is the one who won't love brother or sister. A simple test.

The key here is " dont make a practice of sin"
The main point here is "don't make a practice of sin"; it does not say that you will not sin.

In JER 31: 34....God says that he will remember our sins no more, He doesn't say and they will sin no more!

In 1 COR 13:5... love, Agape love, God's perfect love..says that love keeps no records of wrong.....how can God not keep record of something that you say doesn't exist?..

In Ro 8:1 ... Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. How can there even be something brought up like no condemnation for something you say does not exist? There is no condemnation for what?...No condemnation for your not sining?
In Ro 7, Paul talks extensively about his struggle with sin, He doesn't say ...wow, this is so neat...I cant sin? In fact, he makes a comparison to the sin in his flesh that is real and the conflict with the Spirit in him that has no sin....that's when he followed up with Ro 8:1 above.

So, I have verses that say the opposite of the way you see it....who is right and who is wrong? Here is the caveat and let others decide:

If you honestly are saying that you can no longer sin, then that is legalism and it can result in putting someone into the bondage of not being saved. Here's how:...you can easily have someone believe that they can not sin like you say...then when they mess up God chastises them by revealing a wrong doing or sin in them.....oops! they now question there on salvation....maybe they are not saved because they still have sin in their lives? Your saying that no sin is in you is the same as saying you are perfect...and that is simple not so!

With the interpretation that you remain sinful ends up this way:

You are not perfect yet and still sin but the first difference with a saved person is that you no longer indescriminately make a practice of it.
When you sin and when you see it, you hate it and are repentant, which means you have remorse and regret (an un-saved person doesn't do this!). You go to God and thank him for revealing your sin to you and what jesus has done for you on the cross, you work on improving and knowing there is no condemnation...you move on......and no bondage as with your belief!

At the end of 1 COR 13, Pauls talks about when we died our physical death..riding ourself of our carnal fleshy body. At that time he says that our imperfection (sinful flesh) will pass away and our perfection ( our 100% spiritual self) will come.

I know none of these people lived 2000 or 4000 years ago !So they will not know the meaning of all words in the Bible!

You don't have to repent every single time you sin and come before God, you have obviously already repented if you are talking to God about your sins. Repentance and Faith go hand in hand. Let God do the rest, he wants to.

People keep bringing up faith without works is dead. Looking at it in this way contradicts saved by grace through faith. A faithful person will display their faith to themselves and others in some way. They may not do it all the time or constantly, but they will. Even if it's something in private, like praying. Something that people consider small like admitting your faith in public or to friends. "Faith without works" is about displaying your faith, not being justified by works. You do not need works, it is not a requirement.

RJ, I think you're over looking peoples points on not being able to sin. You know how the bible says we are separated and dead from sin after we are saved? It's a simple concept really. When someone is saved they gain the Holy Spirit, this purifies the persons spirit. This is how we notice what sin is and we can point it out and we do this when we have knowledge of it. So in a way, God see's us through the filter of our Faith in Jesus Christ and we are clean. We still sin, some of us like crazy, but God will not hold it against us because it is the work of the wants and needs of our body.

When someone is saved they gain the Holy Spirit, this purifies the persons spirit. This is how we notice what sin is and we can point it out and we do this when we have knowledge of it. So in a way, God see's us through the filter of our Faith in Jesus Christ and we are clean. We still sin, some of us like crazy, but God will not hold it against us because it is the work of the wants and needs of our body.

This is a great and very important discussion and what the forum is , in part, for.

I understand fully who lives in me and I am a great advocate for telling this truth about a Chrsitian.

You have repeatedly said that you can not sin and, as best I can tell, this is the only time that you differentiated that in fact you do sin, albeit, in the body (flesh) and not in spirit.

Well, I happen to agree with that and have said as much. As I have said before, this is exactly what Paul tells us in Romans 7 and again, albeit, in body (flesh) only, he openly admits to his sin. That is why, as said before, Paul wrote Romans 8:1 as a follow up to this sin.

This "wrong doing" of the flesh as with Paul and all of us do, is what it is, a physical and visable manisfestation of sin; open to the view of anyone who can recognize it as such.

Here is my main concern about not vocalizing and defining where and how our sin is recognizable. I hope you see that by saying we Christians ,as you said ( CANNOT SIN) and with out defining it correctly, and can lead to a persons bondage to failure as a Christian an untruth.

That is why i preach we must Fast from time to time if we can?

This scripture tells us ? if we fast Anything and everything that holds us back or binds us will be broken! I found it only takes about three full days of fasting water only ,praying for his help and reading the Bible!

He promises three things? We break those things that held us back from serving HIM More perfect! We get healing to our flesh bodies ! And He comes and speaks with Us !

Hi All.

This questions comes up a lot and i'm still not sure of the answer. But can we lose our salvation?. I've read scripures saying that all we need to do is confess with our mouths that Jesus is our saviour etc and we will then have eternal life but then i read about God punishing others like King david for his sins.
I have had a few struggles with commiting the same sin over and over and i really do repent and do the 180 but i then fall back into sin again. I love Jesus, and i do hate disappointing God and myself. But it always raises the question can you lose your salvation??...
