PloughBoy was baptized in the Spirit, and I was baptized in the Spirit, and we seem to be the only two who comprehend Scripture.

First question: No, Jesus told him that someone will tell him what he must do

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Second question:
Usually when one begins to believe, they are lead to repent, confess and be baptized.

In Acts 2 the people were cut to the heart. They now believed in peters message. "What do we do?" they asked. Peter told them Acts 2:38.

Third question:
Cornelius went through the same situation basically. when he got the Holy Spirit it tells us it was for miraculous gifts ("scales fell off his eyes" Paul) Cornelius spoke in tongues.

Still, to obey the word of God, one must be baptized to be saved.

Cornelius did it "who can forbid them water... and peter commanded them to be baptized"

Paul did it "Arise, why are you waiting, be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the Lord."

By the way, baptism is for the remission of sins too. Hence the wash away your sins Acts 2:38; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 3:20-21
Baptism is for “Repentance”, Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand! Repentance

PloughBoy -- you're taking words out of their intended context.

Baptism is for showing to people Outwardly that which has already taken place Inwardly. Matthew 28:18-19. Baptism by immersion shows others that the person really Is a disciple of Jesus Christ.

How in the world water going wash any body’s sins away, it might wash the dirt off of you! iT takes the “Blood of Jesus” to wash away your sins! Not a duck in a creek!

)Acts 19:4)

Berean Study Bible
Paul explained: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”

Oh, I see what your saying now. Thanks for clarifying.

Though, can you explain more what you mean.

When one is baptized, they receive the holy spirit along with remission of sins Acts 2:38, it all happens there on the spot. Those who are in Christ are saved, and have been baptized Galatians 3:27. They also have spiritual blessings being in Christ Ephesians 1:3

So what do you mean? If you can elaborate more I would appreciate that.
Yes, just like Acts 2:38. Be baptized in water, then, succeeding that event, you will be baptized in the Spirit.

Acts, just admit you can only imagine what Spirit baptism is, and suppose you have had it.

It sounds like That is what you're trying to say is Right. @PloughBoy.

The 'dunk in a creek' -- baptism is a lot more important than that. True -- it Can take place in Any body of water thats' deep enough for a person to be laid down in. @PloughBoy.

Yes, John's baptism was just that. Jesus Christ told John to baptize him. He was , Himself, being baptized to begin His earthly ministry. An example to us. And Jesus Christ did not need salvation. Salvation includes repentence.

The two of you are turning salvation into a good-works based salvation based on baptizm by immersion.

No one should be 'imagining what Spirit baptism is' and that you Might have had it.

Quick note: I can’t rightly recall at this minute but I am going to check. On the day of “Pentecost”. When the “Holy Spirit “ came rushing in on those thousands of Jews from everywhere, were they baptize by water 1st or the “Holy Ghost”?

Basic salvation is Most important. Baptism by immersion is secondary to salvation. It IS great , but Not essential To salvation.

Hey, I was reading the Bible the other day, and it advised me, Baptism saves you.

Hard teaching, right?

That was a once in history experience. The Holy Spirit came upon them -- their souls were being indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

They Repented 1st then were baptize 2nd then they received the Holy Spirit by Peter instructions.
(Acts 2:38). ;)

LOL! I am relating to my own text. About 1st. Repentance. 2nd The water baptism. Then The Holy Spirit . Ok every one!

@David1954 Did it occur to you to consider how your claim that of all the people using TalkJesus, only you and Ploughboy comprehend scripture might be received by the other members here?

It was an exclamation in celebration of finding someone who has been baptized in the Spirit.

Greetings @David1954

Perhaps your choice of title should have been made more carefully.

A celebration of joy in finding a brother is a cause for rejoicing and your title could have reflected that.

The title you chose to write....comes across somewhat pompous and derogatory towards every other member here.

I grew up in the Brethren.
The attitude of the brothers therein was very much..."We are the only true believers no-one else is as good as we are"

It was very off putting especially to the unsaved and to younger new in the faith believers

But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble . . . Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and hHe shall lift you up.
James 4:6, 10,

Fragrant of Grace, that would not be “Plymouth Brethren” would it? If so you see my problem then clearly, many years ago my “Methodology & Hermeneutics” Professor was one and He was “rough” ! He said when you leave from here, you are going know how to interpret scripture, That Hebrew and Greek was a trip! And he didn’t smile! Out all my instructors, his name is the only one I remember!!!

Greetings @PloughBoy

Yes Plymouth Brethren.

Beautiful simple folk day to day.
Taught the true Gospel message.
But very legalistic in their approach rather than teaching in love.

Fragrant Grace,
Yes you are so right, I think he wore the same plain suit everyday!!
