The “Woke “Jesus
My apologies for being so long. I am not going to address everything; too many issues.
I really tried to understand what the ‘woke’ movement is and where it originated from. I asked my children who are in their thirties to try to explain what it meant. They told me but I could not comprehend what they were saying. You know how sometimes you are explained things over again and it does not sink in. Reading this thread I am even more confused. Adding Jesus into the fray confused me even more.
From ‘Chat BPT’.
"Woke" is a term that has evolved over time, originating from African American Vernacular English (AAVE) as a colloquial expression meaning being awake, aware, or conscious, particularly in matters of social injustice and inequality. The concept of being "woke" has gained widespread popularity and usage in mainstream culture, especially in discussions surrounding social justice, activism, and awareness.
At its core, being "woke" signifies a heightened awareness and sensitivity to issues of systemic oppression, discrimination, and marginalization. This includes but is not limited to racial injustice, gender inequality, LGBTQ+ rights, economic disparity, environmental concerns, and other forms of social injustice. Those who consider themselves "woke" typically strive to understand and challenge the power structures and societal norms that perpetuate these injustices.
The term "woke" gained significant traction during the Black Lives Matter movement and other social justice movements that gained momentum in the 2010s. It reflects a commitment to actively educating oneself about historical and contemporary injustices, empathizing with marginalized communities, and advocating for meaningful change. However, it's important to note that the term "woke" has also been subject to criticism and debate. Some argue that it has been co-opted or diluted in mainstream discourse, becoming more of a performative label or virtue signaling rather than a genuine commitment to social justice. Others contend that the concept of being "woke" can sometimes lead to divisiveness or self-righteousness, as individuals may compete to demonstrate their social awareness without fully understanding the complexities of the issues at hand. Overall, while "woke" culture has played a significant role in raising awareness about social injustices and promoting activism, it remains a complex and evolving concept that continues to be debated and redefined within broader discussions of social change and equity.
It was the band Pillar that coined the song about Jesus ‘Original Superman’. Can we allude Jesus to be the ‘Original Woke-Man’
[Luke 4:18]
King James Version
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”.
[Luke 4:18]
New King James Version
18 “The Spirit of the Lord
is upon Me, because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to
the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to
the captives And recovery of sight to
the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed”.
I think "woke" refers to being socially aware and mindful, especially about issues of injustice, inequality, and discrimination, particularly those related to race, gender, and class. Someone who is "woke" is actively engaged in understanding and addressing these issues and is often seen as advocating for social change and equality with a loud symbol and drums, furthermore may attack others who are not within the sphere of change. This position can be seen in this subject matter presented.
Holy Spirit Male?
These verses can be easily overlooked yet strongly use the male gender. There is nothing neuter or feminine about their use in these 6 usages in these 3 verses. If God repeats something it is worth of notation; using the masculine 6 times must be a big deal for Him.
[John 14:16-17 & 26]
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that
he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth
him not, neither knoweth
him: but ye know
him; for
he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
I am not sure how the other things raised here are related to ‘woke’. I would like to see where they do. I am sure this is not the end.
God Bless…
