The 2 Kinds of Faith of Abraham

I do not see that in the scriptures. Circumcision is a physical sign of being in a covenant with God. The sign now is the Holy Spirit and a circumcised heart.

Of course Abraham and Isaac, but not Zipporah and her son.

Let's try to reason together, since the scriptures aren't clear and many different teachers taught many different scenarios. 1. It is not clear if God was going to kill Moses, or his son; 2. and, the scriptures don't say which son, Gershom or Eliezer; 3.and, we don't know for sure if Zipporah cast the foreskin at Moses' feet, or her son's feet; 4. and finally, it isn't clear who she called a bloody husband, Moses or her son.

So with reasoning, my beliefs are 1. that since God was going to kill Pharaoh's son for not letting His people go so they can serve Him, it makes sense that God was going to kill Moses' firstborn son for not serving God by circumcising his son. 2. It makes sense that it was Gershom, since Gershom is Moses' first born. 3. It doesn't make sense that Zipporah cast her son's own foreskin at her son's feet, so I believe it was at Moses' feet. 4. It also doesn't make sense that Zipporah called her son a husband of any kind.

I believe since Moses was the one who was supposed to obey God and have his son circumcised, Zipporah does it instead, but proclaims that Moses is her bloody husband, since a husband and wife are as one flesh, and this clears Moses of any disobedience of not having his son circumcised.

Thanks

Casting at feet represents the gospel . When we receive our new incorruptible bodies we can cast our crowns at his feet .

Circumcision is a physical sign of God's first born the Son of man, Jesus reckoned as Israel . The firstborn as sons and daughters called son of God in reference to the new creation. All die not receiving the new bodies which will be nether male nor female Jew nor gentile .

Exodus 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn

.Moses who represented our unseen father is not listed in the seed of Christ (geanalolgy) as a priest .Aaron was ..Moses was as if he was our invisible God representing our Father in heaven . Usually the second born of man represents the born again seed. Abel, Seth. Isaac, Jacob ,Aaron , Eliezer. etc

“Moses took his wife and his sons, put them on a donkey, and went back to the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 4:20.)

Notice that the text says “sons,” not “son.” So Gershom had a younger brother. and we don’t know when he was born; It would seem we don’t even know his name at this point .

All of that and not a single additional word about Gershom or his nameless brother. until Exodus 18:3, 14 chapters after we first learn about the existence of Moses’ second son, we learn his name: “... and the name of the other (son), Eliezer; for he (Moses said,) ‘The God of my father is my help...’.” (Eli,...my God; ezer, ....help.)

Again the seed represent the Son of man, Jesus our brother inthe Lord .The seed was was not passed on after Moses .He did not represent the priesthood as did Aaron and then Eliezer.

Bloody husband represent the cross demonstration. The second demonstration of three different kinds following the Garden of Gethsemane, moving to the hill and the bloody cross. and finally the demonstration of the tomb.

The three days and nights demonstration done in three parts .One bloody the other two demonstrations not .

Genesis 22:7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

That is Abraham's faith in God to provide for why James referred to him when he offered Isaac on that altar for because that is the name of the place and thus the lesson of history in the scripture.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

To apply it to faith in Jesus Christ for salvation when it is without works is to testify God is not able to save those who believe and that man must save himself, thus God cannot be the Saviour then, but He is because Jesus saves.

That s why discipleship is separate from salvation otherwise to apply discipleship to obtain salvation, one can never get saved, let alone the Holy Ghost at their born again of the Spirit moment of their salvation because they are still running that race as His disciple. yet we are in that race because we are saved and for why Jesus Christ is in us is how we look to Him to be able to run that race in laying aside every weight & sin daily.

I would think the opening verse as a loving commandment must be performed .It is the gospel key in understanding the whole chapter (James 2)

We will be students of the teacher our Lord till the day we die as disciples

.False disciples like those in John6 walked away from following Jesus they had no faith that alone comes from hearing Gods living word as that not of their own will or thoughts. They not yoked with Christ have no power or little living in earthly bodies of sin . The loving commandment (James 2) and not just good advice is to not have the faith of Christ's labor of love as it is written that works in us to both reveal his will and empower us to perform it .to his good pleasure .

Philippian 2:13-14 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

The loving commandment (have not)

James 2:1 King James Version My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. . . . . (Humans)

The loving conclusion

James 2:7 Do not they (non believers) blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

Those disciples that did walk away (faithless) in John 6 they did commit blasphemy against the Son of man, Jesus whose father worked with him, as the witness of God
.denying both the father and the Son.

The conclusion to the loving law. I would offer. . ..Do not attribute the mighty faith of God that can and does work with them yoked with His labor.

Neither Rehab or Abraham blasphemed that worthy name by the which ye are called they obeyed the power of the father that worked with them as it does with us.

He promises us as the better thing that acompanies salvation he will not forget the good works working with Him we offer according to the power of his name .( Hebrew 6)

Rahab the harlot was justified by works, Christ working in her both to will and do empowering her to believe. The same witness as Ephians2:8-10 We are saved by the power of Christ's faith not of ourselves .

Faith cannot be separated from works . In that way faith is a work according to the law of faith (believing the unseen )

We can se that in creation . "Let there be" and the work of that hope "it was good " .

The testimony of his faithfulness , not of our own self. He is the storeroom of faith .In that way he calls us O little faith .the golden measure .It can give us a desire to call out increase as we decrease a living hope .

Luke 17:4-5King James Version And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

It is obvious from a linguistic perspective that parts of this account have been lost. Pieces are missing. There is not a complete story.

It should also be obvious that circumcision was not part of the religion overseen by Jethro, priest of Midian.

Rhema
I would think the complete parable is there . Remember ceremonial laws as shadow of the unseen preached the gospel in respect to the bloody sacrifice before hand , we look back to the glory of the finished work by the spirit of faith as it is written and by that same spirit they looked ahead. This was in respect to all ceremonial laws sign to the world.

1 Peter 1: 8-11 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

At that time period before there kings n Isreal a pagan foundation . Judges as apostles /prophets came from many nations .

Believing God and moved by God to circumsize one of the sons shows God sent Zipporah priestess to do the will cutting off the flesh. Like a priestess of Deborah or Rehab .performing ceremonies' to show the hand of God
