This is shocking what this pastor said about Heaven...

God promised several people that they would own and life on a choice piece of property, in the Old Covenant, but they died before they could...Gods promises are still out there and will be kept.
That's a bit bizarre, in that NONE of any "choice pieces of property" survive the destruction of Earth.

Yes God will destroy the Earth, its true, the bible talks of the Earth spinning out of it's orbit in a ball of flame...it also speaks of God recreating the Earth again....Read the Word and ask the Holy Spirit, who speaks to you, to show you this

Rhema, why are you so angry?
Angry? That was actually funny. As if curling isn't a funny sport? (C'mon... curling is funny.)

And I still have no idea what "hooped" means.

Read the Word and ask the Holy Spirit, who speaks to you, to show you this
The Holy Spirit speaks to me quite often. The antimatter core of black holes will be released, and the entire material universe will disappear into energy.

And God will make a new heaven and earth. A new cosmos.

So....I made a general statement and you took it personally?
It's not a general statement if it's direct AT a person.

Rhema

Is that like some Canadian sports metaphor? (I never heard of being hooped.)

I'm sorry. I did not recognize the humor there...Cognition problems again. Truthfully I don't play curling and couldn't now anyway. I understand though it takes a lot of skill to play with those heavy rocks and all.
Hooped is simply a slang term for being 'screwed/ messed up/in a bind/ done in/ beaten' and the like.

So you're saying that this Earth will be destroyed and remade? I agree

My apologies. I had thought of putting in a smiley face, but didn't. It may just be a cultural difference.

Definitely a cultural difference. Slang and idiom is the translator's nightmare. (Paul's thorn in the flesh was a pain in the neck.)

I think the entire universe goes poof. (It's been that messed up.) Uh.... It's that hooped.

:)

(Paul's thorn in the flesh was a pain in the neck.) LOL I saw the humor in that one....A good one indeed!

:innocent: Well thank you, but I'm deadly serious. As I said, idiom is a translator's nightmare.

But an accurate Dynamic Equivalent rendering should read

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a pain in the neck, (or - "a thorn in my side" is just as good) ... a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
(2 Corinthians 12:7 KJV)

And that messenger of Satan would be those pesky Judaizers who followed Paul around to preach what he would consider a message of Satan. And Paul wanted them GONE. This is why God replied to Paul that his grace was sufficient (to keep those believers true to Paul's gospel.) Consider, though, that since the word messenger is singular, Paul might have actually meant James ... :eyes:

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. (Galatians 2:11-12 KJV)

God bless,

Actually That messenger of satan was just that....a demon sent by satan to harass Paul...It was not a man. I don't know why someone would take the
Word and change it to fit their own opinions

No it wasn't, and I've provided substantive support for my position. Indeed, most other scholars are under the impression that Paul was just speaking about a physical ailment. (Obviously I don't.)

And I DIDN'T CHANGE THE WORDS. If you knew me, you would understand just how offensive that was (though there is truly no need for an apology). I would encourage you to try to understand the purpose of both idiom and Dynamic Equivalence in the process of translation, lest ye be hooped.

I would also caution about making up fairy tales about devils and demons where there is no reason to do so. I'm one of the few here (if there even be anyone else) who has met three demons, and even cast one out. I don't find fictional beliefs to be helpful.

Well Bill, I've been advised not to talk with you, but I don't see how it makes sense to call Paradise a prison.

The term "Abraham's Bosom" is used as well as "hell" in that parable, and neither "prison" nor "deep" is ever used in that manner. 1Pe 3:19 and Luke 16:22,23 just don't link together.

That said, it makes sense to me that Yashuah would preach to those souls who died in and before the flood, bringing the Word of God to them.

Rhema
I have no idea of what you speak. Rereading my post I never said Paradise/Abraham's Bosom was prison.

My understanding is from the totality of scripture in this matter. Yehovah destroyed the earth in the Days of Noah and then, having saved eight persons on the Ark, He restored the Earth. I see in the scriptures that He will do it again with fire, but once again I see Yehovah restoring the earth and without the oceans, Heaven coming to be seated on the Earth for eternity. I think we are close in our understanding.

Well the topic was about Jesus preaching in prison, and you said this:
It makes sense to me that the Saints still had to accept Yashuah as their Saviour and that He preached in Paradise.

My apologies if I misunderstand, but then you had also said this:
The ¿prison? Copeland spoke of, serious misnomer, is described in the ¿parible? of Lazarus and the rich man as Paradise where Lazarus is but Hell where the rich man is.
Please feel free to clarify as you deem necessary.

Thanks,
Rhema

Those lands will be there when God recreates the Earth and those people will have those lands. Think a bit
They could have any planet they wanted in the new universe.

Rhema

(Would this be a good time to mention that the book of Revelation is not in our canon?)

You laid it out, pretty well, I posted against the idea but fail to see why you are confused.
