What is Easter, and why do Christians celebrate this holiday?

This morning I've come across a passage in Ephesians 2 : 10-22 for context -- "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them....... but now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near b the blood of Christ. For He, Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing walls of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace. And might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross , thereby killing the hostility...... For through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father....... built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus , Himself being the cornerstone, In whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord......"

For the believer, God has good works prepared for us to do. We don't Do good works to get To God the Father.

Are you by any chance a man who believes that since it was Eve -- a woman -- who was deceived by satan -- that anything a woman says / does is Probably not correct -- needs to be corrected by a 'Christian' man.

@Sue D.
Long Answer:

1Co 11:11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
1Co 11:12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

1Co 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
Gen 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

Short Answer is No:
Women seem to be better multi-taskers / thinkers however Men seem to be the better long term planners and see the overall picture "in my observations"

Women were created for Men to be helpmates and counselors with the Man having the authority because the Man typically heads the house and typically provides and protect.
Even though Sarah called Abraham Lord; Abraham still listened to Sarah and took advice from her.

Ivar -- Whatever ---I will now really leave this discussion to someone else.

2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Act 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Amo 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
Amo 5:19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
Amo 5:20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Amo 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

@rstrats

14th Day of the First month of the New Year; Yes. Between the Evenings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.

Num 9:3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
Num 9:4 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover.
Num 9:5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Ivar,

@rstrats
the day prior which should be on the day of the last supper which ran into the day of the Passover
"to my knowledge"

Ivar,
re: "the day prior..."

Which would be the 13th. Are you now saying that the Messiah died on the 13th?

Ivar,
re: "the day prior..."

Which would be the 13th. Are you now saying that the Messiah died on the 13th?

I am saying that the 13th "Preparations" ran into the 14th "Passover" and that he was slain on the 14th.

Joh 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Joh 20:1-18

Joh 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Joh 20:19-25

same day at evening = between the evenings

Passover "14th Day" + Feast of Unleavened Bread "15th thru 21 day" = 8 Days;
8 Holy Days later = 22nd Day = First Day of The week = Messiah Sighting implied by Joh 20:26
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joh 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

Essentially After another 8 days another Messiah sighting.

So Joh 20:26 should help further substantiate it had been eights days "Passover +Feast of Unleavened Bread" before disciples saw Christ again since he was crucified.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disciples except Thomas first saw resurrected Messiah 22nd Day of first month "14+8=22"

Disciples with Thomas saw resurrected Messiah 30th Day of first month "22+8=30"

Joh 20:26 also substantiates an Enochian or 364 day calendar "in book of Enoch and jubilees (little genesis)" with their always being 7 days in a week.

Dan 7:25

In the Gregorian calendar one week of the year has roughly 8 days and during a leap year it has either two weeks with 8 days or one week with 9 days essentially totaling 366 days in a year.

However Dan 7:26-28

No matter what on an Enochian calendar eight days from the Passover or any 7th day of the week for that matter will always be the first day of the week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Example: 8 days from this upcoming Saturday the 15th = first day of the week December the 23rd

8 days from Dec 15, 2018
