White House promoting 'anti-Christian'..

Exactly. "Thou shalt not kill." One can comfortably extend this reasoning to conclude that we should support measures which discourage killing.

The measures already exists which state that it is illegal to assault another man. The problem with "hate" crimes is that 1) hate is subjective; each individual has a different definition and while one person can do something in love another can come up a say it is "hateful". There is no firm foundation from which to reason from. 2) it elevates particular people groups and infers that they are more important. If a white male is assaulted then it is just a homicide, But if a gay person is assaulted it then gets elevated to a hate crime. Why??? Are they more special that the average citizen. Why do they get preferred status? This only works to create a greater divide.

Laws are supposed to be written with out difference to race, creed, or color because all have been created equal by God. Contrary to popular assertion these days, homosexuality is not a race, religion, or color of skin. It is a choice of will. I violates nature, meaning it goes against how God naturally design men and women to relate and be representative of His divine nature to their children.

God and the Bible is specific about how we should live and the resulting consequences/rewards of our choices.

Romans 1:21-32 - For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

1 Cor. 6:9-10 - Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

But before you think I'm speaking to harshly against these men and women making bad choices. I would also have us read 1 Cor. 8:9-13

I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."

We are supposed to be the light and salt of the world. We need to clean our house, the church, and make sure we are being good ambassadors for Christ. We should be standing up for truth and pointing people to Jesus the Messiah.

(sorry to be so forward, these are my thoughts)

Nice posting Pedro.

Don't forget #3, coming to a local government near you soon...

3) Christian White Male Arrested for Hate Speech against Atheist Co-worker. News at 11

I'm also pretty sure that by giving gays equal rights he is not "compelling a whole society to think and act homosexually". He's merely giving them the freedom to make choices about their lives.

Unionjack, your post is well thought out, but..

They already possess these rights under the constitution. They are already making
choices about their lives for their own happiness.

What they're (activist's at the top) after is to change the definition of Marriage.
They want to ligitimize and sanction their behavior and thereby deligitimize
what has always been.. as well as remove the sting of condemnation via living testimonies
of those around them (Christians in particuliar, but not limited to that religion),
...and thereby making such speech a hate crime.

Don't think it can't happen folks...

I also liked Pedro's post...raising one group above another isn't right, regardless of which group it is. I'm not incredibly familiar with the current laws in use right now; I do know that they vary state-to-state. Do you know if so-called "commonlaw marriages" apply to those states that allow same-sex unions?

Sadly, the United States Congress has been leaning toward the(as we call it) left for an extended period of time. In such a way that one, could very well argue the effects of it, is now beginning to affect our daily lives that we live.

Even as I type of this response many, a congressman and woman are moving to destroy the rights, and privileges we used to hold so dear, however it is indeed our fault for letting them fall so far away. We have fallen for a lie, believing that the church should be, as many say, separate from the government.

Like the man who does not feed his dog, there is no one to blame but himself if the dog runs away, or dies.

Our rights, in this smelting pot known as the United States, are clearly laid out before us, endowed by our creator, we must fight for them if we wish to keep them. At times these rights cost, dearly. In World War II the world fought for a better place, free from oppressive ideals such as Nazism.

In the 1960's and early 1970's the United States Supreme Court rule that not only prayer be removed from the class room, but also the ten commandments and every scrap of a Bible. This was not legally founded, nor right to oppress the rights of others, instead it was and is the foolish Ideal that prayer takes up too much classroom time. And that those who do not believe in God, instead are left to be bored during this exercise of free speech, when instead they could being doing the classroom assignments for the day.

Ultimately, the First Amendment of the United States Constitution lays out the law perfectly, though ignored by perhaps millions, remains law.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The government has failed to remain neutral in this spiritual battle that occurs from day to day. We must, stand up and correct our mistake to let this happen. And we must act, before too late.

I don't know whether or not these common laws only apply to unmarried/married hetero-couples only.

I don't think there are many states who practice this law so much anymore.
Kinda the grandfather clause of marriage...

Found this list of common law states:

Alabama
Colorado
District of Columbia
Georgia (if created before 1/1/97)
Idaho (if created before 1/1/96)
Iowa
Kansas
Montana
New Hampshire (for inheritance purposes only)
Ohio (if created before 10/10/91)
Oklahoma
Pennsylvania (if created before 1/1/05)
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Texas
Utah

Gay marriage states:

Massachusetts
Connecticut
Iowa
Vermont

Only Iowa shares the common law and gay couple/psuedo-marriage.
