Why Jesus could not condemn the Woman who was caught in the very act of adultery?

Sometimes, what some of us try to do is help are brothers and sisters in Christ to interpret things in light of scripture. Because it is so important, to read it properly, if not, you will interpret all scripture with the same patterns. All “Holy Scripture” is there for a certain meaning for those who are in Christ Jesus. It’s main purpose is the “manifestation. of God’s Grace and mercy “through His Son Jesus Christ” and we see that! Because there is none righteous no not one. God has bless you to, ponder and see, The “Advocate “ at work. !
I read your message and explination on the woman caught in adultery. I thought it very well thought out and agree with you. Jesus could not condemn the woman as there were not 2 witnesses.

Remember this is not “Sunday School”, once a week “bible class” or ask your pastor radio program. This is “Talk Jesus”. Com. Give “Holy Scripture” back up your answer or refer to scripture in context pertaining to the post. A hint “people always get it wrong.” The reason why, he did not condemn her.❤️
'And the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in adultery.
.. And standing her in the midst, they said to Him,
.... "Teacher, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
...... Now Moses in the Law commanded us that such should be stoned.
........ You, then, what do you say?"

.......... They said this, tempting Him so that they might have reason to accuse Him.
But bending down, Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger, not appearing to hear.
.. But as they continued to ask Him, He lifted Himself up and said to them,
.... "He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her."
...... And again bending down, He wrote on the ground.
........ And hearing, and being convicted by conscience,
.......... they went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, until the last.
And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
.. And bending back up, and seeing no one but the woman, Jesus said to her,
.... "Woman, where are the ones who accused you? Did not one give judgment against you?"
...... And she said, "No one, Lord."
........ And, Jesus said to her," Neither do I give judgment. Go, and sin no more."'
(John 8:3-11 MKJV)

Hello @PloughBoy,

If I am repeating what someone else has said, I'm sorry, but I have not read all the previous posts. :)

In verses 4-5, the Pharisees said that Moses had commanded that someone such as this woman, taken in adultery, should be stoned: but that law referred only to a 'betrothed damsel' (Deuteronomy 22:45). and to show that the Lord knew their thoughts, and knew also that this was not a 'betrothed damsel', but 'another man's wife'. He complied with the law prescribed in 'such' a case (Numbers 5:11-31), and stooped down and wrote the curses (as required in Numbers 5:23) on the ground.

The temptation before the Lord, was in the word, 'such': for of the two cases, they mention the punishment without defining what it was; for the one in Deuteronomy 22:23-24, (a virgin) the death was stoning; but in the case of a 'wife' the punishment was NOT stoning, but required a special procedure (Numbers 5:11-31), which left the punishment with God. In stooping down to write on the ground the Lord was drawing their attention to the fact that the case was 'such' as required the fulfilment of Numbers 5 and not Deuteronomy 22.

The Pharisees were 'convicted' by their own conscience (v.9) by the manifestation of the Lord's knowledge of what was in their hearts and of what they were concealing for the purpose of tempting Him.

Thank you

She was being set up to see what Jesus would do. After all - how would anyone know what she was doing. Being caught in the very act and all. And Jesus Christ knew all about her as well as the men who were willing to mess with her themselves.

That is what you call “eisegesis” on your part, and I am going to leave it there. the Penalty is death in accordance to all aspects of “The Moral Law” of GOD!

Women in this modern day world, and church, can fornicate, commit adultery? Remarry 25 times within 3 months and have have 14 children And kill more babies than “Kentucky Fried” Chicken have chickens wings.
Note:
That is what you call, “ Hyperbole”, ok. Before you get all offended. The Bible is full of “Hyperbole” especially in the “OT” As GOD has spoken

The church leaders will back them women up like they did in the bible when “Israel” sacrifice more babies than any other nation in the world. “[Moloch]” Per-SE the bible, if they haven’t tore those pages out too!

Don’t worry don’t feel guilty, GOD is a loving GOD he forgives all your sins,

well this is my 4th abortion.
Pastor: don’t worry, how many times he forgive your sins? 70 x 7. But I also been married 3 times and only had 14 boyfriends, since I been saved. And before I got save I only had about 50.

Pastor: you remember the woman by the well? And the woman who was caught in the very act?

Let, me say something,,I have been in the ministry for over 40 years. I have heard many confessions from “Murders, whoeing in the church, incest in the church, gay in the church, even one confess to me, in the church that had over 100 men. And if you saw her, you would not believe it!

Soldiers who killed women and children. GOD sent them to me, “Strangers” the strange part about it, they All have been 0f “another” Race. They felt safe to confess to me! A Stranger, men and women with tears in their eyes and I cried with them. From all over this country.
Not only have I read The Book, I know The Book, it is a gift from GOD not Earn “Given”, “a dispensation of The Gospel The GOOD NEWS, According to JESUS.
That is another one of my “Testimonies” pain, pain, sorrow, tears, when you feel there pains, for that also is a “Gift” from GOD to feel Their Pain! And heard how the church has use “Whitewash” and “ Untempered mortal a bandaid that only washes and leaves the wound festering.

I have cried a many of days and wearying in many of cities awaiting for that person to arrive and listening. I remember again a “ Quaker” who had on a sun straw hat , a long flower dress, and “Quaker” shoes on, put her arms around me, A stranger, and said you have a “Quaker’s Heart” and turn around and left! I think I might have been in “Missouri” close to The “Kansas” state line.
So I was not your everyday church goer that occupies the pew on Sunday Morning, I have walk in many churches strange churches of another Race, and been ask to speak, and come back again. I have met people come up to me and said., aren’t you ________. We heard you speak, over a 1000 miles on the other side of the country. Some have over 2000 miles days. Get a call some body heard you speak, because I was talking about you and things you have said, and we came to realize they heard you speak, and they put them on the phone. Some strange things has happen in my life. And I am bold, and weak, concerning The GOSPEL of JESUS Christ. And do not want to speak to anybody about The Gospel, not ashamed, just don’t want to do it. “But The Fire Burns” no relief until it “Exploded” on its own accord. “Dynamite”, Dynamo The Greek word”. I forgot been so long ago…”The Implosion that it may explode.”.

And have forgot more “Theology” than I know. and threw away a lot more! I threw away more books than I can remember in the garbage. After a few pages of reading and as the years went past. I did not want no body in-house picking that stuff up , thinking it is a trailblazer because it’s in my library.

In my youngest years a could read about 5 books plus the Bible in a week, A 300 -700 pages books plus the Bible was a adventure for me and some tied in together and I did not know how that would happen. 5 books at a time was normal. When I got older, my brain started to burn, I think the reading of the life of “Thomas Aguinus” cause that to happen. I slowed down. My brain started to burn..
SomeThing is wrong,
And I knew “Great Theologians” of the past had “Mental Problems”. Sturgeon, Luther, Edwards, and some more, and “John Wesley” married that woman, and his friend happen to walk in his house, John Wesley, wife had him by the back of his hair dragging him across flood and he was cursing her out! LOL, and she was “ giving him a good “old Donkey” whipping! He said she had him, LOL!

Ain’t nothing like a good book on a raining day, with a blanket on your lap! LOL!

I am not talking that “Joe Osteen” Beth More, TD Jakes, and all of the rest of those making “Merchandise of Jesus”. Dime store Prophets.

Another book, free. Short stories! Remember those?

Here is another hint: why he could not condemn her. Remember Jesus cannot break the law. If He did, he could not have been, the perfect sacrifice for the atonement for our sins. Remember Jesus was walking in the Old Testament era, to fulfil the Law of God OT. If you read the story again about, her the act of adultery and keep in mind the requirement of conviction in the law. You will see your Savior in action as a “Paraclete”.❤or “advocate”
Jesus came and fulfilled the old law, and he also taught a new law.

Jesus was making a new law and it was a law that required mercy.

Jesus was showing that no one should be stoned to death anymore for a moral sin such as adultery, but of course, they should repent of it.

Just as he told her to go and sin no more or something worse would happen to her.

John 8:11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,"Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Another time we see where Jesus changed the old law while he taught the new law was that a person can work on the Sabbath day and no longer be put to death for not obeying it according to the old testament.

More changes are the eye for eye and tooth for tooth, etc; and, no more three marriages and divorces.

You said this:
“Jesus came and fulfilled the old law, and he also taught a new law.”

Now I am going to be kind to you, and keep it short, very short!

for Jesus to fulfill the “Old Covenant” The Old Covenant was not filled until “JESUS died, got up from the Grave and ascended back where He came from” after HE got there The “Old Covenant” was finally fulfilled and it issue in a “New Covenant “ and The PARACLETOS, got on His Horse and Rode Back Here and landed in “Jerusalem” , So What The Prophet, of The Old Covenant was filled as well when he prophesy that:

ASB 1977
“And it will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.

Before Jesus died, the people had no idea what he was taking about, they were dead no “Holy Ghost”!
Only thing they was interested in. Him feeding them “Bread and Fish” and don’t have to work and him healing them. they didn’t give a heck what he said, the want “Food Stamps” and “Medicare”. They thought he was a “Lunatic” and they didn’t care as long as he was handing out “Green Stamps” and a couple of people didn’t know who he was but he healed them, they didn’t even know his name!

One man said, well who is he, only thing I know he said take up thy bed and walk!

“A New Testament cannot come until The Old tester of The Old Testament has Died”

“There cannot be a new law until The old Law has died”

Shalom

The people who came to Jesus, they were drawn to him because they recognized what he was saying as being the words of God.

John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Jesus explained the truth to the people. Jesus is the Holy Spirit who was with them.

John 14: 15“If you love me, keep my commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Jesus came and taught the NEW COVENANT. The New Covenant based on faith.

I can hardly believe people don't know Jesus came and taught a new covenant, especially when I already explained it to you before, with scripture.

You reject God's Word for Calvin, or Luther...some man's words.

Where was the man, if she was caught in the act?
I gave you scripture.

Some thing is wrong with your perception with the English language, Did you take any accredited or refresh classes in English and any type of “Biblical Hermeneutics” or you just pick up a bible and just start reading it?

This story in not in the early and best manuscripts of books of the bible. It is a later inclusion and should be removed.

Personally i think the man was a Pharisee as it was the Pharisees that brought her out to Jesus to test Him

Where was the man, if she was caught in the act?
The man may have gotten away. What does it matter? She was caught in adultery,

You don't know that Jesus taught the New Covenant?

No more stoned to death for adultery, and for working and preparing food on the Sabbath.

No more eye for eye and tooth for tooth, either.

I looked for God's Truth in many denominations, but I found God by getting Jesus' teachings in the New Testament and did what he says to do, then he gave me his Spirit and became my Teacher.

Bill, let not us be drawn into “Speculations” about this, it is a diversion.
When I said well where is the man. Of course, they knew who the man was. the culture had plenty of “Temple Prostitutes” which was normal. She did not say nothing claiming that she was innocent. She was most likely a temple who’re. Any how. They try to trap Jesus and do you think they cared what happen to her, but by trying to condemn her it back fired, and The Temple Prostitute got all her sins forgiven “By” GOD’s only “SON” came in as “Adultery” condemn by her own “Actions” and The condemnation of The Religious Rulers, and walked away A “Saint”!

“woman where are thou accusers”? And then Jesus step back into His “Humanity” and said; “neither do I”. He play the role of “The Advocate”, who could had had a better”Lawyer”!

I have more hours in this study, than most have a collection of their entire high school education added up together, and by sermon and lecturing on the subject. Along long time ago before internet even.

It is not what we call a “Problem Text”.

It ain’t that complicated but we can make it complicated by a host of “Speculations “!

Give the scriptures that say what you say.

I am not your “secretary” and I don’t wear a dress.
You should look it up for yourself. Do you really want to believe things that aren't in the scriptures? You say things as if they are in the Bible, but you should check what you try to teach others.
