Women teaching. Disobedient to God?

My parents and I recently had a conversation about this issue and I think I may have made a decent point.

Alright, so let's start. The Bible says that women may not teach....
Jesus tells all believers to spread the gospel.

Example 1. Christian God loving woman is a pastor/minister and has brought thousands to Jesus and salvation. Her disobedience to God by teaching is a sin right? Sin is sin.

Example 2. Holier than though Christian woman doesn't teach, and really doesn't do anything for Christ. She watches smutty soap operas. An addiction to watching immoral behavior on TV is a sin (in my opinion)

Stealing is a sin.

Both women die. Is the female teacher saved despite her blatant disobedience to God? I mean, she brought countless souls to Christ while the other woman who considered herself a better Christian spent more time watching sm ut and borderline porn.

Sorry for the silly sounding example. I know I'm trying to prove a point that Sin = Sin = Sin, but at the same time I'm trying to use sins that are considered "not as bad"

If both women are saved, will the woman that taught be rewarded by God for saving souls? Those names were written in the book of life by the hand of God. If he wrote their names there, then he knew HOW they would come to him, and you can't say that no one has come Jesus after hearing a woman teach. So women teaching bad, but since people can be saved from their words God allows it? Would the woman be punished despite doing God's will ? (It is God's will if those names were indeed in the book of life. Those souls could have heard the gospel some other way, yet an omniscient God knew they would believe in his son through this woman's mouth....)

Any thoughts, or am I just mad. (not angry. Loony)

It is not a bad thing for women to teach. My pastor is a woman and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. When examining Biblical teachings, one must always take in to account the culture in which the message was delivered.

A teacher is held more accountable. They are also a walking example! We are to be LIVING EPISTLES! When a woman is out of order, and has made themselves a teacher or preacher they are not only stealing headship, but they are teaching in word and deed that it is acceptable for women to be out of order and for men to be led by women instead of by Christ.

Our salvation is not a balance of " youve done more good than bad". The bible says be not many teachers. The total example that a preacher/teacher is supose to be a living example of the righteous living in Christ Jesus of being conformed into His image. Being out of order ruins that.

Also how do we know that if that woman would have been in her proper order, being a holy woman unto God that she would not have effected the salvation and overcomming of even MORE than she did!

And with her being out of order, how do we know how many women and men she caused to be in disobedience, to disrespect the word of God, the power and authority of God when it suits them?

i would just like to add real fast, that when people use the culture as a reason to disregard clear commandments and teachings in the word there is a problem. Specifically on women and their postions because the examples paul gave were biblical in nature and went back to adam and eve- they were not about the day they were in.

1. In God's eyes sin is sin. 1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

2, There is only one way a soul can be saved and it is not by man or woman
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

woman as a roll in a fellowship but
1 Timothy 2:12
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Revelation 2:20
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

A woman has a role to play we may only teach woman and children. This is a ministry in its self of a Godly woman, I am a teacher of womans fellowship in our church and this is a subject that we are studing at present, it is a deep study in the scriptures about a Godly woman life through the bible teaching.

Titus 2: 2-5
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

We must be aware we are to accept the word of God the whole word not just what we want to believe. The words of the Bible are as relivent today as they were when they were penned.
Are we aware if we do not do as the Bible asks we are blaspheming against God.

We are not to judge who does what, each person will be held accountable for their actions before God . This has been an ungoing topic in churches for many years. We all can only beleave what God has taught each of us in our own hearts and in the full trust of HIS WORD. THE WORD BEING JESUS.

And there you go-a-teaching!

(sorry could`nt resist) :embarasse

With all due respect to my Sisters and Brothers I have studied the subject of womens place in the body of Christ, and long ago concluded that there is some very erroneous misinterpretation of the intent and meaning of this particular text...(when the one statement is separated from the context of the whole of the testimony of the Testament) If women can, and certainly were, chosen to be Prophetess by God, (share Gods Word with His body) yet are at the same time commanded to remain silent by Men, (refrain from sharing Gods Word with His body) then God has a huge problem, and so do we women....but I dont agree Paul was commanding them to not expound Gods word as such, but was addressing the problem (of which there obviously was one) of women taking authority over the Godly wisdom and directives of the Elders who whos role it was to guard the flock. (We women do have a tendency to be bossy)

If I am wrong, then the woman found "teaching" a man in this passage
was entirely in the dark about "Gods way", all the while explaining "Gods way" accurately to a man. I dont consider myself to be any bright scholar, on the contrary, i`m rather dull of learning, with a little glimmer of wit .... ....but sound reason tells me something aint right there..............

ISV Act 18:24 Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos arrived in Ephesus. He was a native of Alexandria and an eloquent man, one powerful in the Scriptures.
Act 18:25 He had been instructed in the Lord's way, and with spiritual fervor he kept speaking and teaching accurately about Jesus, although he knew only about John's baptism.
Act 18:26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla (Greek 4252- a Christian woman)and Aquila heard him, they took him home and explained God's way to him more accurately.

So there Priscilla goes-a-teaching...tsk tsk..

Sin is sin..period

i always smile when people try to go around the bush. Sin is sin and you pay the price. It doesn't say that a woman teaching is sin, it is said that she cannot ursup the headship, that is make herself above man.

The reason that women cannot teach is that Man was made in God's image and woman was made from man. That is why a man commits a dishonor if he covers his head as he was made by God. Women cover their heads when they pray because they were made from man.

But then there is a debate that women's hair is like a headdress and doesn't need to cover her head, yet it is written in the Bible that women must cover her hair..it is considered a veil only if it is long as a veil isn't short or cropped.

So is it a sin to have short hair? Is it a sin not to cover our head when we are in the presence of God? Everybody has their own idea what is sin and what isn't just like the Pharasees on the Sabbath, you couldn't even pick off a husk of corn to eat..it was considered work.

Is it a sin for women to preach? No it isn't as in the Bible it is written in Pslams that there was an army of women preaching the good word only they were not pastors or ministers. Yes women can preach but not as a headship. Women cannot teach men, we can teach women only. Men can teach both as they are God's image and made in His image as women were made from a rib of Man, therefore not in the image of God meaning made from dust as Adam was. He was made first therefore the headship.

NO, she didn't..you didn't read properly..THEY (NOT SHE) TOOK HIM HOME AND *EXPLAINED* she did not *TEACH*..THEY EXPLAINED him God's way morE accurately. They didn't TEACH.
Therefore, Aquila her husband who was the headship, probably was the one EXPLAINING to him and Pricilla also, as she had the right, she was a Deaconess and he a Deacon. Read what priviledges women have being a Deaconess. THEY did it together..SHE DID NOT TAKE HIM HOME ALONE TO TEACH HIM..THEY..PRISCILLA AND AQUILA TOGETHER ..EXPLAINED..huge difference between explaining and teaching two different meanings entirerly.

 The problem with people as you read what you want to see. What you want it to be and don't even realize that you are writing exactly the contrary of your writing. Read carefully before putting one's foot in one's mouth my mother always said. See the trees in the forest and not see the forest because of the trees.

You got to be kidding me! You `ll have to chop down the whole forest to make me see how "explaining/expounding" is not "teaching"

I know what privileges a Deaconess had....and I think you are the one beating the bush now...(beating the bush results in straw, and twisting to grasp at straws can only result in the foot in mouth you mentioned)

(edited for interlude; I had to run off earlier)

Seriously now....I was wrong earlier about the Prophetess thing (I think)as a Prophet is not necessarily a teacher, so lets forget I used that example.

On the other hand, God set apostles, prophets, and teachers in the body, (1Co 12:28) and I dont see any role for "explainers"....but if there is I`ll be glad to accept it... maybe its covered under various kinds of tongues (tongue in cheek)

And you cant say that "Aquila her husband who was the headship, probably was the one explaining", as that requires "they" to become "He" and you cant substitute one word for another just because it suits your probabilities to do so...that results in you creating the same "read what you want to see" problem you pointed to. In the context of the whole counsel of scripture, I dont see how women can be condemned for simply "teaching a man the way of God more perfectly", and I`ve seen this debated from every angle known to man.

Blessings

God Said Women Were Not to Teach Men

I love your sense of humour. God said that women were not to teach men..period. Are we going to argue if God is right or not? He is the One who makes the laws and *teaches* us what we must do.

If He says..WOMEN DON'T TEACH MEN .. it's you don't teach..period. As at the moment I am EXPLAINING to you that God said women don't teach men.. I am not TEACHING you. So you see there is a difference in teaching and explaining.

When you are in school..the TEACHer ..teaches you..if you don't understand he or she will say.. Come after class and I will EXPLAIN it to you. Get your dictionary out sweet Coconut and you will see it is not the same.

What I meant by he..Aquilla..since he is the head, he is the one who probably *began* to EXPLAIN..not TEACH..and Priscilla also explained to. If she had not been a deaconess, she would have left her husband to do the explaining as his wife and not a deaconess, it would not be her place to say anything as a woman must remain silent in church and if she need any EXPLAINING to ask her husband at home.

It is really simple.. explaining isn't teaching, it explaining. Teaching isn't explaining it's teaching. I will teach you how to ride a bike and I will explain how the bike works..the brakes etc..once I have explained to you all about the bike then I will teach you how to ride it.

I will teach you how to write a poem, and I will explain the best way to do it.

I will teach you to bake a cake and then explain why I use butter instead of margarine in the pan.

I will teach you to sing and I will explain why this note must be sung a certain way then I will teach you how to sing it.

When I was being taught to knit, I asked the teacher to explain to my why I kept having stitches dropping without my noticing it.

So Priscilla and Aquila explained to him what he should know about God's way..as he knew but wasn't doing it quite right.

I studied law and was taught..when I made a mistake..it was explained to me why I did.

So there is a difference in Teaching and Explaining. The two are entirely different of each other.

Isn't the Bible great..it makes us work our minds and understand the *meaning* of the *difference* of teaching and explaining.

God teaches us not to sin and when we do He explains to us why he must punish us. He doesnt explain His laws and doesnt Teach why we are punished.

:weirdo: I refrained from using the doomed smiley on this subject, lol.

Jesus also told some of those he healed to keep silent, and they could not contain the silence of the good news.

I am 100% for a woman being in submission to her husband, and I do not think a woman should go start a church etc., I just don't agree with the part that says if a woman teaches and or preaches, however you view the word being shared, and a man is present and learns from it, it is not from God.

The point I have made before is that a woman whose husband had passed, stayed and carried the church, she still does and brings in evangelists and preachers, men, also.

The other was a woman who does some of the services when her husband is not there.

Lord knows there are a lot of men preaching and teaching that should not be, the question is, who is willing to carry the gospel into all the world?

God is Supreme In All Things

:confused2: God isn't a God of confusion..all He does is with order and that all things to work right. You can't have two bosses, therefore God is the Boss, the Boss of Man is God and the Boss of woman is Man. Therefore, Man cannot take the place of God and therefore Woman cannot take the place of man. Order.

Unless the woman is a Deaconess, she cannot to anything, she cannot take the place of her husband when he isn't there, it is not her place and she isn't assigned to. If a woman does then she is disobediant..pure and simple.

Trust me it rubbed me the wrong way that we women cannot be pastors as I have the talent to do so and was ordained. But when I knew the Truth, I had to let it go. Because God knows what He is doing, He is the Creator and no one can go and tell Him that He is wrong. He is perfect, we are not..we cannot even have an inkling to How He thinks and more often than not people tend to complicate what God says and yet if you take it as is, as God says it..it is simple

Women are not allowed to teach! What more simple is that? Nothing complicated. If women were allowed to teach men then there would be confusion, arguements, fights, etc. Look at what the liberation of women has done, it was supposed to give us rights not have the right to marry other women and be porn queens and take the place of men that only men should do.

God is simple..it's man that complicates things. I accept all that God says as a woman what I can do or not do. I don't have a stiff neck. I obey period. It's that simple.

Jesus had his reasons

:weirdo: I refrained from using the doomed smiley on this subject, lol.

Jesus also told some of those he healed to keep silent, and they could not contain the silence of the good news.

JESUS DIDN'T TELL A WOMAN TO KEEP QUIET..think why he told them to keep quiet..it had nothing to do with women.

I am 100% for a woman being in submission to her husband, and I do not think a woman should go start a church etc., I just don't agree with the part that says if a woman teaches and or preaches, however you view the word being shared, and a man is present and learns from it, it is not from God.

How can you say you agree 100% being in submission to her husband and not be 100% that a woman cannot teach? God knows what He is doing and we have no right to agree or disagree. Nothing prevents us to spread the good news of the Kingdom. In the bible it is written that there was an Army of Women spreading the good news. An army represents alot of people. We can't have two masters. It is simple you can't have two heads in a household. You can't have two kings ruling at the same time, you can't have two prime ministers..WHY is that?

Simple: You can't have two people ruling at the same time. A woman's place is besides her husband, she is a COMPANION to aid him in what he does. Why you think God made woman? Because He saw it wasn't good for the man to be alone and made him a companion.

The point I have made before is that a woman whose husband had passed, stayed and carried the church, she still does and brings in evangelists and preachers, men, also.

She has no authority to do so and is disobeying God, pure and simple and there is not two way about it.

The other was a woman who does some of the services when her husband is not there.

She has no right either, it is not her place. Maybe as a Deaconess she could until a man takes charge, otherwise, she can't. I don,t see what is so difficult in understanding..NO WOMAN IS ALLOWED TO TEACH A MAN and until God says different..we can't.

Lord knows there are a lot of men preaching and teaching that should not be, the question is, who is willing to carry the gospel into all the world?

That is for God to judge, not you or I who should and shouldn't. Only God knows their hearts. We all can carry the gospel to the world because God doesn't even need us to do that..He could send His angels to take form of men and do it. He doesn,t need us for anything..we are not even worthy to pronounce His name. We are all filled with the sin of Adam and Eve and very lucky that we are still here, so who are we to complain and judge what God does.

I would never dare say I don,t agree with what God had written in the Bible. He can't be wrong ever and never will I ever disagree with what He says I can or cannot do. He knows best, He is perfect..I'm not..am a sinner and I will be perfect only when and if at Judgement Day..I pass and allowed to live eternally.

God forbid that I would disagree with anything He says we must do or not. I don't question a thing that He has given us to follow. It's like driving..I follow the code of the road..if I don't I risk having or causing a accident, or getting a ticket.

If I follow the code of the rode why shouldn't I follow the code of the Bible..because the code of the rode is to protect us..so isn't what written in the Bible also to protect us..even from ourselves?

God doesn't sin..we do everyday. God is perfect..we are not. God doesn't die..we do. God can bring us back to life or take our life.. we can't. So you think I am going to argue what God says a woman can or cannot do..NO WAY!

FATHER NOWS BEST.:rose-animated:

So are you saying that women cannot enter into a discussion that has anything to do with the Bible? Or was the the context that women should not teach in church?

Everything goes nowadays I guess. Why not a second day novice to teach and preach since he has passed the first day in Christendom, really no pride will come up I guess since we are all sure of that, remember dont stop a young one from teaching. Hey was not it Adam who disobeyed? Was it not woman who was deceived? Am I getting my bords wackwards? Hey lets not forget this and that on the allowance of one verse being contrary to allow all to do his or her thing. Hey remember if u can see it in your light in Gods word lets allow it. Lets forget authority lets forget Gods structure. Anything goes lets have confusion in the church. Who's church? My church because I preach and want to teach.
Why cant a man who's struggling with lying preach, after all is he not struggling with it?
And the man who had 7 wives after all he is just married to ONE woman now? Hey lets have a woman teach since she is in her third marriage, lets.
Hey lets let a boy who is 10 years old preach?
Lets even allow you finding allowance in the letter of the law to let you preach a sermon lets.

I said all of this for one reason and one reason only, this is what the world see's!
Where is the faithfulness to Gods word? where is there integrity to his word!
Where is one picking up his cross and following him?
I hope this advice is useful to any who may read it.
