You say your a christian and don't go to church ??

There are churches and there are God Ordained Churches. Big Difference

There are those who meet in homes and there are those who meet in Homes and God is a part of it. Again big difference.

I don't see what the big fuss is all about.
1. First you seek God and find out where He wants you.
2. You go and stay until He moves you.

This totally takes out any other concern, disappointment, all reasons you can come up with to stay or leave.

Anything else is just wasting time.

Friends meet and go fishing or shopping or movies and if friends meet in a house and praise and worship God, then who has any right to speak out against it and if some one does......

SAY hey man did you go to the cross for me? No I did not think so and until you do, I do not get my directions from you.

Lol

I agree and I still say, as someone pointed out somewhere, Most of the fuss comes from 'pastors' worrying about money. Or big numbers of church members that make them look good.

Just as a slight aside here. I never did understand why churches have memberships...We are members of the body of Christ NOW. Why do we have to have membership in an organized church? Makes no sense at all to me. Never did. Yeah. I heard that fluff about voting etc but again that makes no sense, because that forces God's will right out the window. So....Why church memberships?

For the most part.......that comes from those assigned to individuals and church to keep the light from getting out or in.

Why of course, it nit picking judgmental thoughts whispered into ears of many and sadly enough to many "Christians" don't take authority over Every Thought and "Feel" they are so smart that they know best and begin to give life to those dark whispered words.

Absolutely! Agreed!

I don't see the attitude that this kind of talk betrays fitting easily into the model of the church described in Acts 2.

Hey do some praying brother, Heaven is very organized and even in this time we have both dark and light spiritual beings recording every thing we do and say.

God has the book of Life
So the devil has his book too.

Membership = Commitment
It's simular to taking or making a Covenant and that's big in God's heart

Please elucidate dear friend...I have no covenant with my brothers and sisters. I do have codes of conduct set down my my Jesus though. This does not bind me to an organized church.

Yes to membership and commitment. Accountability is important and membership gives us a foundation for holding each other to account.

Pastor is a biblical word and concept. It is a shepherding word. It makes the role of shepherding far easier if it's clear who belongs to your part of the flock

Attitude?
If some one would have told the believers in the church of acts that they could not meet.....
Apologies, I misunderstood your post the first time around.

As far I know, nobody on this thread is suggesting forbidding anyone from meeting anywhere to pray and praise God.

I also see my phone jumped from one thread to another I was reading in and it seems I replied to one thing in the thread I thought I was still in.

My apologies and I will be double checking from now on.
I miss my tablet! !
Blessings

Shepherding? My only experience with this is where the pastor, or pastors lived the life of their members for them. Telling them when to eat, sleep, when to vacation, if they could marry someone or not..Condemning them if they went camping over a weekend including Sunday.... This is NOT a scriptural way of pastoring. The pastor is NOT the one who tells anyone to do anything. He is a servant, like the demons and the elders.

Brother, may I suggest that when you have time, research Covenants and the power and authority behind them and how seriously God takes a covenant.

Besides I was using it as an example.
God's Written word is a Blood Covenant with us and in this covenant we find instructions on how to live honoring this Blood Covenant.

Church membership is commitment.
If God placed you there then you should be obedient and surrender under the leadership God placed you.

Blessings my brother

More on what church and pastoring is not. I'm interested in how we better live out being the body of Christ

Starting in Acts and through to Jude. Its all through the New Covenant, but there is no place that we should be a member of an organized church. There is lot that says 'if you are a Christian then you ARE a part of the body.
