The Israelites were to keep God's laws with their hands (actions) and their eyes (minds/thoughts).
Deu 6:8 NKJV You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
I think similarly the mark of the beast on hands and foreheads will be that of actions and thoughts.
I tend to agree with that line of thought.
The right hand represents our dealings with the world or our authority. It is our "do".
The forehead is our focus,it is our "be".
Leviticus 8:9 And he put the mitre upon his head; also upon the mitre, even upon his forefront, did he put the golden plate, the holy crown; as the LORD commanded Moses.
Exodus 28:36 And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
Exodus 28:38 It will be on Aaron's forehead, and he will bear the guilt involved in the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, whatever their gifts may be. It will be on Aaron's forehead continually so that they will be acceptable to the LORD.
There is also some spiritual discernment needed to understand this beast.
Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The beast "was","is not" and "will ascend".
I don't think this can refer to a person because the beast "is not".
If the beast "is not" then the beast is not real.
It "was" because it was part of the original lie.
It "will ascend" from the bottomless pit of mans carnal mind.
God has always treated mans imagination as a real thing.
The beast could represent our carnally minded old creation,it ascends from a darkened imagination.
In contrast the new man in Christ descends from above.
KJV
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Young's literal translation
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born from above, he is not able to see the reign of God;'
To be born again and born from above are the same thing. The kingdom of God is within you,but you will not see it with the carnal mindset.
This interpretation would have been edifying to all Christians for the last 2000 years.A literal interpretation of the book of revelation would only help a few people in the last days.
Actually I'm not sure it would even be helpful to those at the end if it is to be taken literally.
