Bill -- the Jerusalem Bible contains the Apocryphal books. Which is those books contain the word Piebold.Wow that's a pretty good guess
Yes I use the Jerusalem bible
A question for you. If the Akjv is the only preserved. Word of God then why is the Geneva Bible included.Hello Bill,
I use my 1967 KJ Scofield Bible as a standard. There isn't any difference in the Authorized King James bibles since they are public record and anyone can print it, but if you change it , it must be filed with the copyright office and given a new name. All the Translations are based on the Authorized KJ Bibles because it alone is the preserved Word of God. They had the oldest and reliable manuscripts plus the Geneva Bible at the time of translation and preserved it in translation. The 47 scholars combined Aramaic, Hebrew, Latin and Greek to translate it to the best English..
About 1975. The NKJV was financed by Thomas Nelson and developed a word for word translation; It reads accurately along with the AKJB. without the thee, thou, and ye's.
King James didn't like the commentary in the Geneva Bible, and the Geneva Bible was semi popular at the time. The Geneva bible was the instigator (cause) for creating the King James Bible. It was already translated into English and the scholars used it for comparison when translating Greek again; to English. Likewise, Latin to English.A question for you. If the Akjv is the only preserved. Word of God then why is the Geneva Bible included.
I believe I did mention.... for catholics? Protestants have their best ones and catholics thiers. The best translation would be the NKJV.
It isn't so much in the translation that makes the issue it is more in the understanding of the scripture.Brad -- how can there be a Best for RCC and Best for Protestants
John 14:6 Jesus Christ is telling everyone that He is the way , the truth and the life -- no one comes to the Father but through Him. Jesus Christ."
And Ephesians 2: 8-9. ."....not of works. Lest anyone should boast."
Can't there be only One Best
although the holy spirit is talking about something that was of the past, the Holy Spirit is talking about the present.
And this is something not taught by the Protestant churches.
And this all goes back to how the Bible is translated. And how it is taught. And of course the prejudice that lies between the two families of Our Lord. As I have said to some, in heaven There is no divisions. There are no Baptist, no catholics, no individualism of different denominations or individuals thinking that they are one in themselves the only one. Everyone is one family
You do know Satan can quote scripture as well as anyone2Jn 1:9; Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
2Cor 11:3; But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
2Cor 11:4; For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you accept this quite willingly.
Gal 1:6; I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;
Gal 1:7; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8; But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
Gal 1:9; As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
2Cor 11:13; For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
2Cor 11:14; No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
2Cor 11:15; Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.
Now we can (and frequently do) debate who is right and who is wrong. But obviously some are wrong enough to be called false teacher, false prophets,
false doctrines, and false "Christians". The Bible has dozens of verses about this, so obviously everyone isn't right.
Everyone isn't part of the Family.
Matt 24:11; "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.
Matt 24:24; "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
Mark 13:21; "And then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ'; or, 'Behold, He is there'; do not believe him;
Mark 13:22; for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect.
2Pet 2:1; But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2Pet 2:2; Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
2Pet 2:3; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
1Jn 4:1; Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1Tim 4:1; But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
Jude 1:3; Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.
Jude 1:4; For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:18; that they were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts."
Jude 1:19; These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.

Jos 6:1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
Jos 6:2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
Jos 6:3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
Jos 6:4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
Jos 6:5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
These first five verses of Joshua 6 are the command issued to Joshua, verses 6-17 is where the command of the Lord is being carried out.
In order to fully understand Daniels 70th week we need to see the types within the Word of God that show what it means. God has put pictures in His Word and like children when we see the picture we understand the text. Now these are not drawings but teachings within the Word that support prophecy. Let me explain to you Joshua 6:1-17.
EXPOSITION
Verse 6:1 - 2 Jericho (represents Babylon in Revelation, a global economy ruled by one man) is a picture of this fallen world who is ruled by a king. It is the kingdom of Satan and as we see in Ezekiel 28:1-19; Isaiah 14:12-14 he possesses a man and want to rule in the place of God. The King of Tyre is a type of how the Antichrist will be a very religious, wealthy man, who is wiser than Daniel and makes his heart like the heart of God and puts himself on the seat of God. He puts his seat in the heart of the seas which metaphorically speaking is the nations. Where is the heart of the world – Jerusalem!! This king wants to rule over the world from Jerusalem. Joshua is a type of Christ and God gives everything into the hand of His Son (Col 1). We read in Psalm 2: Psa 2:5 … Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, Psa 2:6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” Psa 2:7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession (ESV).
Verse 3 – Joshua and all the men of war were to do this. It is important to note that we have 6000 years of history and Jesus Christ has been prophesied about and preached about for that period. Rev 1:8 says: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty (KJV). Looking at it when God said let there be light in Genesis 1:1-5 He was putting Jesus Christ as the light of the world to whom everyone should look. This can be seen by John’s exposition of Genesis 1:1-5 in John 1:1-5. He is the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden and He is the Tree of Life in Rev 22:1-2 Where we are back in the Garden of Eden. Note here too that Rev 22:2 says that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Obviously, Jesus Christ is the Word of God, the Logos, the anointed Word of God that has been preached and taught since the beginning (Jn 1:1-5). The Word of God covers three time frames, present, past and future. Therefore, the message preached would be covering all three time frames. One cannot say that the Old Testament is no longer valid. The Epistles were all taken from the Old Testament. Matter of fact the epistles are a divine exposition of the Old Testament regarding Jesus Christ. The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed, the Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed (Lk 24:44).
So, for six days they had to walk once around Jericho, once every day. A day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day (2 Peter 3:8). Six is the number of man. Man was created on the 6th day. So, six thousand years would be given to man. Right in Genesis 1:1-5 we see that God says that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. Already here is a picture of those who come to Christ being separated, or translated, from the darkness of this world into Gods glorious light. The two opposing forces. Light is pure and reveals and darkness conceals (John 3:17-21). So, as Romans 1 and Psalm 19 says that God is seen in the creation. He is light and darkness cannot reside in Him (1 John 1:5). Therefore, when God created the sun, moon and stars in Genesis 1:14-19 they were the physical sun, moon and stars but metaphorically they represent the Son, the Church (who reflects the light of Son) and the Saints and angels in glory). As the sun sets each day we remember Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins and was buried, and as the sun rises we remember that He rose again and is seated at the right hand of God in heaven. The moon is suspended above the earth together with the sun showing metaphorically that the true church is seated with Him in heavenly places as co-heirs with Him (Rom 8:17). The stars shine bright because these are true saints whose messages that were preached whilst they were still here on earth are still being used today to bring people to Christ. One should read Romans 1 and Psalm 19 in this light!
Verse 4 - Joshua was instructed to march around the city of Jericho once every day for six days. The seven priests carried seven trumpets or rams horns before the ark. We know that the ark represents Jesus Christ and the trumpets sounding of the coming judgements. So, we see that on the seventh day they had to march around Jericho 7 times and the priest will blow the trumpets. These 7 times on the seventh day is a picture of Daniels 70th week. We note that they marched before the ark of the covenant. This is declaring the second coming of Christ but this time for judgement. Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Verse 5 – Here we see that the city has been given into the hand of Joshua a type of Christ. There is a long blast with the rams horn and when the sound of the trumpet is heard they shouted and the wall of the city fell down flat. When Jesus returns for His bride, the true church consisting of both born again Jews and gentiles, there will be the shout of the arch angel and the trumpet shall sound and those asleep will rise first and we who are left will meet them in the air and we shall ever be with the Lord (1 Cor 15:50-52).
THE 70TH WEEK OF DANIEL
Daniel 9:24-27 Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place (NASB). This is speaking of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and in point form, that He will come to:
So, they were to discern that from the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the first coming of Jesus Christ (Messiah) the Prince there would be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. Each week being 7 years. This makes a total of 483 years. When you multiply 70 by 7 you get 490 years. When you multiply 7 by 7 you get 49 years and 62 multiplied by 7 gives 434 years. Add the 49 to the 434 we get 483. There is 7 years missing out of a total of 490 years. This is the final 7 years of history as we know it and is referred to as the 70th week of Daniel.
- Finish the transgression; to
- Make an end to sin; and
- To make atonement for iniquity; to
- Bring in everlasting righteousness;
- To seal up vision and prophecy; and
- To anoint the most holy place.
The seven weeks when multiplied by 7 equals 49 years must be looked at in relation to Leviticus 25 with emphasis on verses 1-11:
Verses 1-3 Moses was instructed by The Lord that the sons of Israel must have a sabbath unto the Lord. Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its crop (taken from the NASB). This, like in what was said earlier regarding Joshua 6, speaks of 6 thousand years of teaching and preaching about the Messiah to come. It is a picture of history over that period in relation to Jesus Christ and what He would accomplish on behalf of fallen man. There are three things we, as the true church, are commanded to do: (1) prune (John 15); (2) gather in its crops (Matt 28:18-20). Read Eph 4 to see how the body of Christ should grow and function.
Verses 8-11 You are to COUNT OFF SEVEN SABBATHS OR YEARS FOR YOURSELF, SEVEN TIMES SEVEN YEARS, SO THAT YOU HAVE THE TIME OF THE SEVEN SABBATHS OF YEARS NAMELY, FORTY-NINE YEARS (NASB – Capitals used for emphasis only) Note: This is leading up to the day of atonement which would be the fiftieth year, the year of jubilee. After the 49 years verse 9 says: You shall then sound a ram’s horn abroad on the tenth day of the seventh month; ON THE DAY OF ATONEMENT you shall sound a horn all through the land (NASB – Capitals used for emphasis only). Note: From the time of Jesus’ death on the cross to the event of Pentecost was 49 days. On the 50th day the Holy Spirit was poured out, this is the jubilee year. The year of liberty. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty, liberty from what? Sin!! Accomplished by whom? Jesus Christ. At the end of the 70th week of Daniel we enter into Gods rest for eternity, the DAY OF ATONEMENT. We will then be with Christ eternally, with God the Father and the Lamb being the light, there will be no need for the sun, moon or stars because they would give the light (Rev 21:22-27).
Note: When we are born again we enter into liberty, Gods rest, but, we must remain faithful until the end (Ezek 18:24; Matt 3:8; Heb 2; 2 Thes 2:3). We have been saved (rebirth), we are being saved (sanctification) we will be saved (day of atonement). Once saved always saved has no biblical foundation because even after the baby is born in the flesh he/she can still die. Our faithfulness, until we meet the Lord in the air, will be tested in our walk with Jesus Christ, in persecution, because the world hates that name! Why? Because the world is under the rule of the wicked one – Satan. He is the God of this world and he hates Jesus Christ. He is darkness personified and Jesus shows the darkness for what it is. The real test for this generation, and for those in the West, will be Rev 13). Will we be like Kenneth Copeland saying, “Give me the money!”, or will we forsake everything to be with Christ Jesus? We cannot serve both God and Mammon.
Let us now carry on with Daniel 9:
Verses 4-
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
So, after 62 weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. This was the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70 AD. This was done by Titus after the Jewish revolt.
In Matthew 24:15 - we see that Jesus said that, “When you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of trough Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the read understand)… In 70 AD there was no abomination of desolation set up in the temple because the temple had been utterly destroyed leaving not one stone upon another. So, this must refer to another time. In Dan 9:27 we read what Jesus was referring to when He told His disciples about what was going to happen. This temple was destroyed because the church is the temple and the need for sacrifice was no longer necessary since all the sacrifices were fulfilled in Him. Also, God Himself did not issue any decree to build a third temple. The third temple will be authorised by the Antichrist. He will allow the sacrificial system to be reimplemented but after three and a half years he will break this agreement and put an end to the sacrifices and declare himself as God and place himself in the seat of God.
In the Apocrypha, which does not form part of the Bible but is used as historical fact, 1 Maccabees 1:54 we read about Antiochus Epiphanes setting up the abomination of desolation upon the altar on the 15th day of the month of Casleu. Daniels prophecy regarding this was also pointing to this king. Prophecy should be seen as having multiple fulfilments. Mat 24:15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand) (ESV)
The 70th week of Daniel will be divided into two parts consisting of 1290 days each. Forty two months/three and a half years. The first part of this week will be tribulation and the second part great tribulation. When looking at the original language we see that the word used is thlipsis a Greek word meaning:
G2347
θλίψις
thlipsis
thlip'-sis
From G2346; pressure (literally or figuratively): - afflicted, (-tion), anguish, burdened, persecution, tribulation, trouble.
The second half will be megas thlipsis, Greek MEGAA meaning:
G3173
μέγα
megas
meg'-as
Including the prolonged forms, femine μεγάλη megalē, plural μέγάλοι megaloi, etc.; compare also G3176, G3187], big (literally or figuratively, in a very wide application): - (+ fear) exceedingly, great (-est), high, large, loud, mighty, + (be) sore (afraid), strong, X to years.
The first half of the 70th week of Daniel is covered by Matt 24:4-8. Here Jesus warns us that no one misleads us and that there will be wars and rumours of wars, nation will rise against nation (civil wars/unrest) and kingdom against kingdom (wars between nations). There would be famines and earthquakes and that these are the beginning of birth pangs. Like a woman in labour the contractions start off a little at a time then steadily gets worse and worse so these events would start and then go on to great tribulation (Matt 24:21).
Now it is important that we understand here that there is a difference between the wrath of Satan and the wrath of God. The great tribulation is the wrath of Satan as per Revelation 12. He first starts to seduce through the false church (2 Cor 11; Ezek 13) and when Satan is cast out of heaven to the earth he possesses the son of perdition and he then goes all out to annihilate Israel and the true church. Read 1 Maccabees 1 especially verses 54 to 64 to see what happens after antichrist sets up the abomination that causes desolation in the temple. Antiochus Epiphanes… he:
(1) built idol altars through the cities of Judah – Antichrist will embrace all religions the only ones who will oppose him in this are Israel and the true church.
(2) He rent in pieces the books of the law which they found and they burnt them with fire. (he will not hold to the Bible). He will outlaw the bible and anything regarding it.
(3) Whoever was found with any of the book of the testament, or if any consented to the law, they were put to death. We will not be able to have the bible, it will be outlawed and if you are caught with a copy you will be put to death.
(4) Women who had their children circumcised were put to death and we will no be permitted to share the gospel and people have their hears circumcised by the Holy Spirit. If we lead anyone to Christ we will be put to death. The sun, moon and stars will not give their light a metaphor for Son, true church and the saints already in glory respectively.
(Ezekiel 28:1-19 (KJV) Here we see a picture where of the prince of Tyre in verse 1 and then referring to him as a king in verse 12. Verses 1 to 10 the first three and a half years and then verse 13 to 19 when Satan enters into him we see a king possessed by Satan). It is at this time we see Revelation 13 coming into play because the false church under the leadership of the false prophet will attempt to get all to worship the first beast (Antichrist) after he has set up his image in the temple in Jerusalem. Satan knows that his time is short and he goes about attempting to prevent the second coming of our saviour – Jesus Christ. We know he fails.
Now, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT (capitals for emphasis only) that we distinguish between the wrath of Satan and the wrath of God. What I have described above is, as I have already mentioned, the wrath of Satan. However, after we are raptured out between the sixth and seventh seal, as seen in Rev 6:12-17, God starts to pour out his wrath on those who remain, those who take the mark of the beast and worship his image (Rev 14:9-13). The word WRATH is not tribulation!! We have already seen that tribulation is the Greek word THLIPSIS. WRATH is ORGAY Paul says to the Thessalonians that we are not destined to bear the wrath of God - 1Th 5:9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, WRATH:
G3709
ὀργή
orgē
or-gay'
From G3713; properly desire (as a reaching forth or excitement of the mind), that is, (by analogy) violent passion (ire, or [justifiable] abhorrence); by implication punishment: - anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath.
So we see that there is an absolute difference between THLIPSIS and ORGAY. Those who see the tribulation mentioned in Matthew 24 as the wrath of God and that we will be taken out beforehand are mistaken! Israel and the true church will suffer great persecution but the elect (all those, both Jew and gentile, who are of the true church) will be taken out in the rapture at some point between the abomination of desolation being set up in the temple and the beginning of the wrath of God. Jesus said that we, the elect (chosen) (all those, both Jew and gentile, in the (definite article) elect Jesus Christ Is 42:1-9 emphasis on verse 1) would be removed otherwise no flesh would be saved (Matt 24:22). We can see this mentioned in Daniel 11:32-34 which says that the people who know their God will display strength and take action and those who have insight among the people will give understanding to the many yet they will fall by sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, for many days … and some of those who have insight will fall, in order to refine, purge, and make them pure, until the end time; because it is still to come at the appointed time. Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Basically, very basically that is it in a nutshell. Obviously, there are many cross references within prophets, epistles and the Book of Revelation but to attempt to put everything here would make it too long for a post here in the forum.
Bear in mind that the Bible is a Jewish book and one must approach it from a Jewish perspective. We in the west have interpreted scripture our way and not in the manner that God gave it to the Jews. The main focus for prophecy is Israel and in particular Jerusalem. Consider these verses: Zec 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
Zec 12:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Zec 12:4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with
I hope you will check everything against the scriptures because none of us are infallible. We can make mistakes. I hope you enjoyed the input I have given. If you have found this helpful please feel free to copy and share.
it is amazing that you liken me to all those astrologers out there. You have not countered me with any valid biblical reasoning. If, as you say, I am in error then prove to me scripturally that I am wrong. You also say that I have a variety of other errors so please by all means correct me biblically and with with your own opinions. I am correctable and teachable but your coimments will remain unfounded until you can, via scripture, prove that I have made errors. If you can prove these errors I will gladly repent and turn from them as the Holy Spirit convicts me of those errors as revealed by you. Revelation 12 is when Satan the dragon is cast down to the earth. Understand that he will in wrath and hatred want to prevent the second coming of Christ and he will go all out to destroy Israel and the true church. Yes, Satan has always hated anything to do with Christ but you better read Matthew 24 again and see what comments Jesus made about that time. Here is the verse verse: Mat 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. So, who should I believe you or my Saviour Jesus Christ? You remind me of all the astrologers who try to figure it all out .
There are problems in your theory.
The premise of the rapture. It is a false teaching. The only time we will go up is when Jesus comes down.
Another error is the understanding of what the Seals are.
As far as trying to find some equality between the wrath of Satan and the Love of God, is just plain foolishness.
And as far as calling a certain period of time "the wrath of Satan" satans wraith has been from the time he first saw Mary revieled to him by God.
Satan hates mankind.
You have a variety of other errors.
It is best to live each day in the fulness of Gods love, and not worry about it

In my opinion, any translation that has a footnote for the meaning of each Hebrew name would be the best, Zechariah and Elizabeth mean “God remembers” “God’s oath”, that’s critical information; in reality, any translation that piques your interest to read is the best. The best translation would be the NKJV.
