A discussion about believing you are born again

Hi Dave,
Many believers will quickly boast that Jesus is Lord of Their life.....but, they have many areas where they have become wayside unto the Lord or another words won't go there or allow God in.

One example....Finances
Many folks will quickly shut the door when the thought of finances are concerned. After all they are theirs and they worked for them.

Dealing with or treating a spouse or child is a big one.

Walking in Love towards your rude co worker and so on.

You would be surprised at areas believers have been keeping off limits to God.

Blessings to you
I know what you are saying.

Also there are times the devil doesnt want you to talk to a person. Whenever i get a yuck feeling from someone, i make a point to meet them.

Bikers, unbathed, characters you name it. I take on that challenge head on.

When i go home, and park the truck. Ill ask the guy next to me at the truckstop. Here for the weekend? If they say yes, ill let them know they would be welcome for dinner.

The first time i brought a guy home, my wife wasnt too thrilled, lol. Now she is the one who invites the poor in and those who just need help.

Can you say Luke warm, I fear most far to many are luke warm.

Yes I would agree there are far to many luke warm believers.
Then again what I am talking about is also amongst strong faith filled believers.

Many do not even grasp that they are doing this.
Many times one even uses some Scripture to justify their action and in all truth, missed God wanting to free them in an area.

Anytime God wants to deal with an area of your life it is to free you and allow His results to flow or work stronger in and through and for your benefit.

Many times it is just a little thing that needs changing and yet will change things big.

Blessings to you

Yes definitely true. Like the small pebbles that move before a rock rolls down a cliff.

I was thinking of a conversation i had with my dad. We were taking about what we do on earth and the reasons we do them. He was talking about storing up riches in heaven. And i told him. If you do something good only because you feel God will bless you for it, then you are missing the point of the Gospel already.

We do things not for the rewards, we do good because it needs to be done.

If God chooses to bless me because of my actions, that is great. But i dont do the action (giving alms) expecting a reward in return.

It is like giving a gift at a birthday. I give the gift, i dont expect anything in return.

In giving you recieve, and in recieving you give.

This has been my philosophy for many years. At the moment i give, i already have recieved. Joy, happiness, the surprize, the laughter, and so on.

Bill Jesus tells us to store up treasures in heaven, and he tells us how to store up treasures in heaven.

Matthew 6:20
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

To me it seems he saying be smart and store up your treasures whear they will last forever, dont be stupid and store up treasures whear they are going to all end up burning up, he also is saying to me that if your heart is in the right place (as you suggested) you will want to store up treasures in heaven. God owns everything we are just stewards, I agree with you the Joy of giving is second to non, even people in the secular world discover this look at warren buffet great giver.

God rewards us for so many things according to what the bible says

Pray in secrete Jesus says God will reward us
Fast in secrete Jesus says God will reward us
Give with out expecting something back and with out boasting and Jesus says God will reward us.

Many many promises of rewards in the bible, God made us he knows how to motivate us also :)

but with out the right heart you get nothing

Is there at any point after repentance that we cease to need a saviour?
If not, then can someone please attempt to explain for what reason this may be?
No.
Not till after the final judgement, when His work in us is made evident.

And, who is our saviour... us, in our own strength or Him Who is our Saviour, both Christ and Lord?
Jesus is our Savior.
Those outside of Christ still need to take the initial steps towards redemption.

I know that didnt come out the way i ment it to. I know in my heart what i was trying to say.

If you strive to do things solely for the purpose of getting rich in heaven, this is where people miss the point. The richest of heaven are given to rhe selfless. Where others come before you. Love is an action, and the treasure God seeks from us is love.

Jesus said the greatest gift you can give to another is your life.

Think of all those who have given there lives.

There was a shooter at a Amish school some years ago. The teen girls kept telling the shooter, shoot me, not the younger children.

I tell you, everyone of those girls killed are in heaven. And those who did the same and they survived, they are praised by God.

Like i said before, you say it better than i do.

I was thinking, i will stick to telling experiences.

In my heart there are many words, just cant quite get it down onto paper.

1. Is there at any point after repentance that we cease to need a saviour?

If not, then can someone please attempt to explain for what reason this may be?

2. And, who is our saviour... us, in our own strength or Him Who is our Saviour, both Christ and Lord?

Bless you all ....><>

1. No. Because we will never be righteous before God without Jesus.

We reign with Jesus. He is our intercessor to God, for eternity.

A human will never be perfect like God.

2.
Jesus is our Saviour. We just need to properly grasp what we need to do in order for Him to make us His bride.

So, we don't enter eternal life now? We only know if we are saved on judgementday? Am I miss-understanding?
In one sense, the repentant, reborn have started eternity already.
The "skin" will turn to dust, but "we" live on.
Don't confuse "life" with the condition of the "skin".
And we still need to "endure till the end".

What are these initial steps?
First, a true repentance from sin...forever,
Second, baptism in Jesus' name for the remission of past sins. (and the death, burial, and rebirth of the new creature who is raised with Christ to walk in newness of life, Rom 6:3-6).
Having done the first, (and in all but Cornelius' case, the second), we have provided a washed, sanctified environment for the residence of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38 testifies to the truth of this.[/QUOTE]

That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death;

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Philippians 3:10-16

In what ''sense''?

Second, baptism in Jesus' name for the remission of past sins. (and the death, burial, and rebirth of the new creature who is raised with Christ to walk in newness of life, Rom 6:3-6).

You say 'steps'. Are these two steps (repentance and baptism) all the steps? Is baptism an essential step?

I would have to say we all agree there are "steps", there are things that need to happen. Repentence, acceptance of Jesus. And a form of Baptism. I say form, because if we get into semantics (i.e. water baptism) then we need to explain the thief on the cross.

The thief on the cross had, in my opinion, a baptism of grace. There are circumstances that just dont fit into everyones box of what we think it should be.

There are many who are in heaven who never experienced hearing the Gospel preached to them. And there are some who even were preached to but didnt grasp it.

You see it was thier love that saved them. Christ was already there.

Some gave thier lives for others, some lived a full life, but always loved. When love from the heart is present, there is Christ to.

And this is why Paul states in scripture. The person whos heart is circumcised may not be praised by man, but he will be praised by God.
you said " The person whose heart is circumcised may not be praised by man, but he will be praised by God. my question for you is...Now why is The person whose heart is circumcised may not be praised by man....why isnt he being praised by man and by god?

Greetings @Bill

I have just spent time reading through this thread.

What you are writing makes no sense.

It seems that you are preaching 'another gospel'

I am going to temporarily close this thread for moderation.

It is important that we share the Truth at Talk Jesus Christ, many lost souls come here.

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto him,
How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:3-8
well done i was reading that in my bible and u were right on point

Please do not try to combine the old testament with the new.

Besides this has nothing to do with what I asked you.

You said
God understands that it takes time to grow in him. It would be foolish of me to think everyone thinks like i do.
hey he is just asking a question ...here's a thought why don't you answer the question with another question and be polite please
