What evil was He tempted with?

Matt 4:9; and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.”
Matt 4:10; Then Jesus *said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”

Would worshiping Satan be a good thing?

What evil was He tempted with?
Evidently, you have not been keeping up with what has already been said. Read post #110

Yes, I would.

Kinda makes me think...If we were made in His image, He must also have a "human" nature.
I thank God for making His divine nature available to us here and now. (2 Peter 1:4)

Man has two natures, one divine which is Christ in me that can not be tempted, and a human nature that can be tempted to sin.

This is why you can not understand the scriptures, because Jesus was a man with a human nature that could be tempted, and he was God with a divine nature that could not be tempted.
Would a man sweat drops of blood because he was being tempted to good or because he was being tempted to not do the will of his Father?

Luk 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Luk 22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
Luk 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Yes, Jesus could be tempted.
But not with evil.
In Luke 22, Jesus wondered if He might forgo the impending suffering and death.
Frankly, He could have ended the world right there and been done with us.
"Evil"?
He has every right to do what ever He wanted to do, but His love for us overrode His hope for an easier way.

Show the "evil" He was tempted with.
Jesus was tempted with food, power, and ease of duty, but not with "evil".

Would not doing the will of his Father be considered "evil"
Would doing something the devil was tempting to do be called evil?
Everything that is not of faith is a sin!!

Jesus did not choose the easy route to save man, he chose the hard route which resulted in his own death upon the cross!!

Man has two natures, one divine which is Christ in me that can not be tempted, and a human nature that can be tempted to sin.
This is a manifestation that you are not yet a "new creature".
If you are carrying around parts of the "old man", with his affections and lusts, you are still walking in the flesh instead of in the Spirit.
It is written..."And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts." (Gal 5:24)

Turn from sin.
Be washed with the blood of Christ for the remission of your past sins. Crucifying the old man, body of sin, burying it, and being raised with Christ to walk in newness of life.
Ask God for the gift of the Holy Spirit-Comforter.
Quit being "just a man".
Be a "new creature", like has never before walked on earth.

Would not doing the will of his Father be considered "evil"
Would doing something the devil was tempting to do be called evil?
Everything that is not of faith is a sin!!
As it is written that "God cannot be tempted with evil", it is clear to you that Jesus is not God...if you continue to perceive food, power, and ease as "evil".
Asking His Father if there might be an easier way out is not "evil".

Jesus did not choose the easy route to save man, he chose the hard route which resulted in his own death upon the cross!!
Yes, manifesting again that He couldn't be tempted with "evil".
He could be tempted with food, power, and an easy life, but not with "evil".

You fail to see that just because a temptation is brought to you , doesn't mean it tempts you.
How many pretty women have you seen that didn't tempt you?
I can walk into a bar, full of a hundred temptations, and not be tempted to partake in any of them...thanks be to God.

Asking His Father if there might be an easier way out is not "evil".
The asking is not evil, but the temptation to not do his Fathers will is evil. Jesus already knew his Fathers will before he prayed. He even told all of his apostles what he was going to do.

Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

If you are carrying around parts of the "old man",
That is weird if my "old man" was crucified with Jesus, and he was, does that mean my "old man" is gone from within me?

Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Wait a minute, if my old man is gone, then why did the Apostle Paul tell us to put him off? I am told that the old man is corrupt, with deceitful lusts, and I am suppose to put him off. That means he is still there, and I have deal with him in this life by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In Christ he is gone, but I did not die inside myself! Only in Christ is he gone, but in this life i have deal with this person by the power of God. There is a difference between being in Christ, and Christ being in me.
In Christ I am sitting in heavenly places in him, but my physical body is still on earth with Christ being inside me.

What does John the Baptist have to do with "not quite born", so not subject to "Whosoever is born of God cannot commit sin"?
By your implication that a child in the birth canal "doesn't really count yet" you give fodder to those who say life doesn't begin till the baby is outside of the womb.
It all does tie together as the Word of God even as the Body of Christ also does.

The not being completely born yet simply means that sometimes a person really cannot see the Light yet even though he has already encountered Life. There is Life in a mother's womb even though the child cannot see a thing yet. There is life at conception, but at birth it can become Life. You speak of abortion as if I were advocating giving up on the unborn baby because it is still in the womb. It was already conceived of God. Now why should it not also be born of God? This too is part of the growth processes which begins at conception and moves to birth and then to maturity. The whole is a process.

The words of John the Baptist speak of killing the old while nourishing the new man. They may coexist for a time but that is not to be the final result, is it? Ideally one is sliding down even as the other is being lifted up.

Nope.
It is evil, so, wasted on the Son of God.

I can't tell if you are trying to prove that Jesus is not God, and can be tempted with evil, or if you are just trying to show that evil can tempt the Word made flesh?
It is written..."...for God cannot be tempted with evil,..."
Why not just believe it?

Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Jesus did the good thing, so there was no sin.

Not everyone in Paul's audience was a believer.
Neither then nor now.

You have turned control of your skin over to your skin.
If Christ is in you, how come His mind has no influence on your actions?

No matter what stage of growth a Christian is at, he will never manifest the fruit of a devilish seed.

Perhaps the difference between King Saul and King David, which is certainly in the heart in spite of the errors in both!

Those who walk in "flesh" have their mind set on the things of the "flesh." In other words those who walk in the flesh are those who are using their physical brain as a means of determining their spiritual walk.

Jesus was a "man", and he was "God", he was a God man. The God part of Jesus could not be tempted with evil, but the man part could be tempted. Jesus said........

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

God can do anything, but Jesus said he could do nothing on his own!!! The man Jesus had to rely on his Father and the Holy Spirit for every thing. This man could be tempted with evil!!

Neither man was of the NT, wherein a man could kill the "old man -body of sin" and be reborn with a new divine nature.
Thankfully, they both had the OT atonements for their sins.
Our atonement was Jesus Christ...and we should be loving Him for that.
Loving Him enough to remain faithfully obedient.

I agree.
Thankfully, God also allows us to use our physical brain-mind to resist temptation and walk the spiritual walk.
Some walk in the Spirit, when we all should be walking in the Spirit.
I think we agree that all sin is either caused or allowed to happen by a man's brain-mind.
I'm sure glad God gives us a new mind, (1 Cor 2:16), when we crucify the flesh and are raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. (Rom 6:3-6)

"God man"....Do you have a scripture that testifies to that?
It is written..."But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:" (Phil 2:7)

Do you believe that. through Christ Jesus, we can have the same level of communication with the Father as Jesus did?
At least enough to be able to tell if something is a sin before we do it?
I do.
And I thank God for it.

No, not in the NT, but remember that God never changes. What we see in the carnal of the OT is very often a type or shadow of that in the NT. I won't try to convince you as you are already convinced with where you are. You should at times seek and ask and knock some more. How much more does God have for us? The limit always is in us.

Son of man = man. Son of God = God. = God man.

Mat 8:20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The Physical carnal mind will do you no good in times of temptation, because it is the enemy of God!!!

Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But covenants change and God did change His mind a couple of times.

Do you believe we can have a spiritually centered mind?
One not at enmity against God?

I thank God for allowing my past carnal mind to be crucified and buried with Christ.

God never changes.
But covenants change and God did change His mind a couple of times.
Did God really change His mind? Consider what the following verses mean:

"If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses." Lev 26:40-46
