Is Hell just separation from God or a place of horrendous eternal punishment as the Bible states?

We just need to be clear that God does not torture. Torture is wicked. God is not wicked.

Demon theology. God is not wicked and because he is not wicked, he cannot allow the wicked to go unpunished.
God is Holy, God cannot lie. God will not allow sin to go unpunished.

We just need to be clear, those who reject Jesus will burn and be tormented forever and ever.

Rev 14:9; Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand,
Rev 14:10; he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
Rev 14:11; "And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

Rev 19:20; And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.

Rev 20:10; And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Tormented forever and ever.

Luke 16:23; "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24; "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.'
Luke 16:28; for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

In agony, in this flame, in this place of torment.

Rev 20:15; And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

...anyone, everyone who isn't in the Book of Life... will be thrown into the lake of fire.

Matt 3:10; "The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Matt 7:19; "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
John 15:6; "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

Isa 66:24; "Then they will go forth and look On the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm will not die And their fire will not be quenched; And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind."
Mark 9:48; where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.

Luke 16:17; "But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail.

Heb 10:31; It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

If the wicked receive no punishment, then God is not a just God. If everyone receives the same sentence (no torment, no pain, no suffering ) then God is not a just God.
If no one goes to hell, then the verses above are wrong, we can't trust the Bible, and God is a liar.

Heb 12:25; See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.
Heb 12:29; for our God is a consuming fire.

John 3:36; "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
Rom 1:18; For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Rom 2:5; But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Heb 2:3; how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,

One has to remember that hell and the lake of fire were not designed for humans. They were designed for Satan and his cohorts.....If a person chooses to follow Satans army, there is no place else for them to go after rejecting God and they dying. Humans were designed to live sin free with God...Take God out of that equation and there is no alternative....
Because of the fact that people follow Satan to his lake of fire, the place is torture, the demons will torture them, they were to be Gods people and the demons hate them with all possible hatred....The demons will torture them....and their own hopelessness will torture them....Never God.

Demon theology.
BAC, have you ever seen someone tortured? Here in South Africa, I watched 10 minutes of a 3 hour video on White verse Black abuse from our 'apartheid' era. White policeman letting their dogs loose on black men. I only watched 10 seconds of actual torture. The first 10 minutes was the introduction.

I want to be crystal clear. Torture is wicked. Implying God will torture anyone IS demon theology. A message contrary to the message we have heard.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Please STOP this gross miss-representation of God.

If any Christian believes God is capable of torturing someone they are serving the wrong god. The devil will do that. Then, if any Christian is ''ok'' with torture as a form of punishment, I would bet on them likely being thrown into hell one-day. Only a sick person approves of torture.

You implying God is not omniscient and an ''idiot''? He never knew humans would go there? You miss-interpreting / miss-reading that scripture.

God is Holy, God cannot lie. God will not allow sin to go unpunished.
God is holy...….because He is righteous in ALL His ways Psalm 145:17. If God was '''unrighteous'' on hell, He would.... not be holy.

I take it you have not read this thread?

Hmmmmm Really? Think about it sir.
and...you implying God is wicked as He sends …..little poor humans.....to a place prepared for much stronger...angels. Bendito, you are buying into atheistic theology on the bible.

The verse is saying it was first prepared for angels. Not prepared only for angels. God saw angels sin and knew He needed a home for them. They happened to sin first.

I'm not implying any such thing! Try reading it again... Is it God sending a person to hell or the lake of fire if the person chooses to follow Satan there? NO! It is simply that the person chooses that fate....

You may want to reread

He has been given dozens of scriptures on this several people. He hasn't given one single scripture that says God won't send anyone hell, or the lake of fire,

But he "feels" this is wrong and wicked. The Bible warns about who put their feelings before what the scriptures say.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

That's right. None at all. To let darkness go unpunished would be to accept it. Agree with it. Merge with it.

Explain why Born Again Believers are Debating what is written in Gods Word.

If there is a Need to question eternal punishment then we might need to question eternity with Him and why stop there, I mean if God says things that are not so.....well are we really saved?

For me and my house hold, if God said it in His Word..... End of story.
Blessings

That's right. None at all. To let darkness go unpunished would be to accept it. Agree with it. Merge with it.

I agree with punishment. God will not let sinners go unpunished. Jesus was punished for our sin. It pleased God to see Him bruised for our iniquity. Bruised because of iniquity on Him. It is as though there is a law in place that even He is not exempt of. Hence there is no chance of escape for us. We must note though that Jesus was beaten and crucified, all in one day. For all our sin.

God will likewise deliver an initial punishment. I think also on Rev 6:10 how those saints in heaven are waiting for God to deliver punishment on those that killed them.

If you were one of those saints in heaven. Would you say ''God, Nero killed me, placed me on a pike and I suffered in pain for three hours. When oh when are you going to put him in fire and make it so hot that he burn for not five minutes, not ten minutes, not an hour, not a day, not a weak, not a month, not a year, not a decade, not a thousand years, not a million years, not a centillion years, for all eternity''. I will bet a centillion dollars on every saint turning to God and saying ''God, what is this guy here doing with us? He is sicker then those who killed us''.

A Christian can grasp the punishment to dish out to the wicked. That is WHY we will judge angels 1 Cor 6:3. I personally believe God will give lashes. Exactly as what happened to Jesus. Hence Scripture says ''we are healed from sin by His stripes''. Stripes I believe are '''the''' punishment for sin.

Some of my thoughts on the other scripture speaking to hell being a ''terrible place''. Darkness is an environment of sin / being with sinners. As loving sin is paralleled with loving darkness in John 3:19. People weep and gnash teeth because they look up and see they are cast out Luke 13:28. They surely see they were wrong about God. He is very good. They see they are surrounded by unrepentant sinners for all eternity. Their company at poker night....is the devil. The fire is also figurative. They will not have the peace of God with them, their restless state will be a fire of sort. You mentioned the rich mad in Hades asking for a drop of water on his tongue. Note it was a drop. If I was on fire or cooking in a brazen bull I would not ''ask'' I would CRY AND SHOUT for not a '''drop''' of water but rather a BUCKET LOAD of water. There is scripture on worms not dying, but this refers to the beginning period of the millennium after armageddon. All the carcasses are covered in maggots. It is not speaking of hell. Probably alluding to the fact that worms will feed on the carcasses for a thousand years.

Eternal punishment I agree with too. God separates those sold out to wickedness. He does not make the mistake of grafting a devil into heaven. He does not make the mistake of sending a saint / person who may desire repentance to hell. He separates the two. That separation is the punishment and it is eternal. That God does this / is able to do this, strikes fear into the wise who love Him and do not want to be without Him.

Teaching people to fear God because He will burn your bum in hell for all eternity will never lead anyone to now '''love''' God. Getting people to truly love God is the reason we are on earth. The reason He has made earth and done all He has. We literally undo all He is trying to accomplish with mankind / finding a bride when we teach that hell will be a place where we are tortured.

If there is a Need to question eternal punishment then we might need to question eternity with Him and why stop there, I mean if God says things that are not so.....well are we really saved?

It is all abut correctly discerning what is written in His word. Many should simply not be allowed to teach. They make too many reading blunders and teach absurdities about a good God.

Example: When scripture says Adam and Eve will die when they eat the forbidden fruit, did they actually, literally...''die''? Or were they banished from God's presence?

Then when God said to Adam ''you will labor and sweat as the ground will give you a hard time'', did He fail to mention retirement plans, provision of resources and our ability to invent and use technology to assist. Lemonades in the hot sun. Oxen to help plough the field. Rains. God never completely abandoned them. Even though they ''were in DEATH''.

As Christians we are charged to properly represent God to the unsaved. We have ''one'' job to do. Let's not get tunnel vision and mess up at our ''one'' job.

I truly wonder how long some have meditated on 1 John 1:5 ''God is light with no darkness in Him at all'' and Psalm 145:17 ''God is righteous in all His ways''.

Be careful , God is sovereign, he does as he wishes!
Fortunately for us ''as He wishes'' is doing what is ''good'' and righteous.

We therefore give thanks and choose to serve Him. Psalm 136:1 Give thanks because God is good.

If one believes they should serve God because He just happens to be the 'god' in power. I worry about them. I truly do.

Yes, I feel torture is wrong and wicked. As do 99% of the sane people on this planet.
