How do I accept Jesus as my Savior?

Debating's for the birds.
I admit, I need the Lord's help to withdraw from a discussion that obviously is at an impasse. So pray for me.

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

The only way to have the Lord build your house is by obeying him.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Matthew 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

What happens to that mans house that just believed?

Want the scripture that tells you?

We were never meant To have the knowledge of both good and evil. So-- we listened to Satan lies instead of God's truth. A person can be delivered from sinfulness by accepting. Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Aren't acts different from the forbidden moral knowledge of good and evil which creates guilt about acts?

Adam and Eve felt guilt about staying unclothed in God's most holy presence.

Psalm 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

That is what discipleship is all about in running that race as we grow in the word & in the knowledge of Him, He helps us to see our sins and/or iniquities to repent of so that we may bear more fruit as His disciples.

John 15:1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.....
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

That is why it is written that the just shall live by faith in Jesus Christ & His words to us as He is the only way we can live that reconciled relationship with God the Father & that is through Jesus Chris the Lord as He is the power for living as His.

Adam and Eve were sinful seen through the knowledge of good and evil because they stayed unclothed in God's most holy presence.

Adam and Eve were sinful seen through the knowledge of good and evil because they stayed unclothed in God's most holy presence.
They hid themselves from God because of the knowledge of good and evil. When God was asking for them for why they would not appear, they said they were naked. God had to clothed them. It was their sin that drove them away from Him but He was not driven away from them since He had to clothed them so they could be in His Presence even after being kicked out of the garden of Eden.

And the Lord did appear to men in the O.T, after that too.

Jesus The God That Men Had Seen In The O.T.

The only unforgivable sin the Holy Spirit will convict of is not believing in Jesus Christ.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The fact that the Holy Spirit is not in unbelievers is why they are already condemned to the hell and the eventual lake of fire for not believing in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Once sinners are saved, you can believe in Jesus Christ to be your Good Shepherd & Friend to help you to follow Him daily by looking to Him to help you lay aside every weight & sin to walk in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son.

For those that think they have to do something in order for Jesus Christ to save you other than to believe in Him, do reflect on this music video below.

Once saved, Jesus Christ is in you so you can believe sin's dominion over your life is over and you can look to Him daily to help you to live free from sin and walk with Him through this valley of death to fear no evil for He is with you always.

@GodB4Us -- it's the Holy Spirit who comes immediately to indwell the person upon their heart belief and confession by mouth. Upon the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ -- He ascended back up to heaven and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father.

I agree with you but the Father & the Son dwells in us too, and not just the Holy Spirit as it is fitting since Jesus's name as Emmanuel means "God is with us".

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him..... 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

So Jesus Christ as God is within us as well in according to our faith in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Thank you for sharing.

While Jesus Christ was here on earth , he was both completely divine and completely human. He was God in person. The second person. Of the Godhead. Look at acts 1:9-11.

The Holy Spirit part of the Godhead is here with us now.

But so is the Father & the Son is in us now too as a testimony that God is with us and that God has saved us.

We also have John 14:1&2. God is in heaven and Jesus Christ is also there preparing the future home for born-again believers and vs 16-17.

Yes. and the Omnipresence of God per His promise that all 3 Witnesses of God is in us since salvation is why one day we will be up there in Heaven living with God the Father & God the Son & God the Holy Spirit.

Well++ according to the passages I just shared -- yes, God is onmipresent. No one can hide from Him. But the Holy Spirit is the only part of the God head that indwells the born again believer.

How do you apply John 14:23 then?

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him...

Thanks in advance for sharing, sister.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.....

I do notice this is contingient on .. keeping Jesus's words. (obeying His teachings) but it also could mean future.. (i.e. rapture, 2nd coming, New Jerusalem)

John16:7; "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

Thanks for that reply and believe it or not, I had considered that, but this is not about the rapture event when "They" are coming unto him in making Their abode with him. This being prior to John 14:26 about sending the Comforter too.

I see the following verses down below in verses 2 & 3 about the rapture.

John 14:1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

When we look at His commandments in order to get the promise of the forever indwelling holy Ghost, it is the repeated commandment to believe in Him starting in verse 1 & reiterated in verses 10-13 below.

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The commandments cannot be everything He taught for then we would only get that promise of the Spirit at the end of the race and thus making discipleship about obtaining salvation when that is not the truth at all.

So I see the difference between "They" coming unto the believer at His born of God moment of salvation from verses 2 & 3 in receiving that believer to his mansion built for him above.

Now I understand that not everything is translated from the Greek properly into English and maybe it is as you say in John 14:23 about receiving us to His abode above but worded wrong, but as it is written now, it seems the direction is God coming to us at our born again of the Spirit moment rather than receiving those that are born again to our Home above. There is this as well about how our bodies are the temple of God for how the Triune God dwells in each of us.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

So I apply John 14:23 to be about God the Father making Their abode with us in the here and now as the Holy Spirit does too in John 14:26 when you consider those other verses above.

But so is the Father & the Son is in us now too as a testimony that God is with us and that God has saved us.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.....

The Holy Spirit indwells us and Jesus Christ was the one who died on the cross and rose again on the third day.

Jesus Christ is now and has been sitting at the right hand of God the Father.
