Notice: the world (AKA) unbelievers can NOT receive the Holy Spirit but born-again believers can! Which means you must be born again first before you can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit!

Tongues are not only for unbelievers but also for believers.

Believers who are born again and filled with the Spirit do not need any kind of sign as they are already acquainted with speaking in tongues.
Notice: prophesying is not a sign to those who believe not but to those who believe!

1Co 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

Tongues with interpretation is prophesying and the "unbeliever" secrets of his heart are made manifest and he will fall down on his face, worship God, and report that God is truly in you!
1Co 14:5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

Notice: he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues UNLESS he interprets the message that was spoken in tongues.

Tongues with interpretation are equal to prophesying!

How can an unbeliever have his heart exposed unless there is tongues and interpretation? The Holy Spirit is the only one who knows what is in the heart of a person. Speaking in tongues is a person's spirit speaking by the Holy Spirit who knows all things.

Of course, if you do not believe in speaking in tongues or any of the gifts of Spirit you will never see this happen in your Church so in a sense yep you are right these thing have passed away, but only to you and those you fellowship with.

Speaking in tongues with interpretation is for both believers and unbelievers! Praying in tongues to God is for all believers who believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

It is written in Scripture that the greatest gift of the Holy Spirit is love. And without love everything is pretty much useless. You can have faith to move mountains but without love it's nothing. This is true with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, that if your heart does not have love within it, that when you're baptized with the Holy Spirit, you may not receive the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is Love.

The scripture talks about the seed that's planted in the ground, that seed is the seed of the Holy Spirit taking root in our soul. And that ground that the scripture talks about is the ground that's in your soul. Rich ground has loved deep in it. Where Rocky ground has no love.

Maybe there is some confusion. Speaking in tongues does not nessicarily mean, the language is unknown altogether. Look at Peter's speach, he spoke in tongues, so to speak. As all understood him in thier own language. And we know that Angels spoke to many in the Old Testiment. If thier language is so unknown, how do people understand them.

WHen i see people in all the churches, or individuals, all Christians. It is not the outward signs i look for that tell me if that person is in the Lord, and Gifted with the Gifts of the Spirit. It is the inward Gift, that lives in the heart - Love. Even prayer is a Gift of the Spirit.

That was then when the Church was being built and they only had the OT Scripture.

This is now and the Church is built with the NT Scripture.

I believe in the power of prayer, not this nonsense some of you are claiming.

James 5:14-16

We should never dwell on the gifts themselves, or make them into "mini gods". The Holy Spirit, Itself draws us to Jesus, and It's Gifts should always be used in the same consept.

The use of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, is a form of Prayer. Just like talking with God is also a form of Prayer. Because prayer is talking to God.

My friend, if I can intervene between you and Charlie for a moment.

You're both saying the same thing. It's just that one person's understanding is a little bit different than the others. Charlie believes in prayer, and doesn't have a full knowledge of the Holy Spirit. But that isn't really that necessary, because he believes in prayer which is the same thing as asking the Holy Spirit who is also God to heal people. The laying on of hands you're still asking God to do something. It's not something that we ourselves have the capability of doing it is God working through us and in prayer we do it.

I hope you can see what I'm trying to say. But even though he doesn't " lay hands on" , the truth is in fact he does lay hands on, it's just in prayer.

Prayer itself is a Gift of the Holy Spirit.
