What to expect in Hell

Actually they both say the same thing. The other one is the bozo and with them it will be great. Allah/satan says that you go to hell if you don't worship him.
How can you see which one is the real monster? The one that lets Himself be crucified for you to reconcile is not the monster.

If it's Jesus, then don't hinder her to marry Him. If ppl reject good/God and are seperated from Him, there is just only evil/devil as the other option. You have to serve one of the two. And you can make it all a little bit not so bad, with not real fire or something, it's still terrible.
Look at it like this: psychopath says: marry me and worship me and you get anything you want. Another man says: don't marry and worship that psychopath, but marry me, else your life will be horrible and he'll kill you, cause he's a liar and a psychopath. Choose me. I will Always go for the one who sounds not smooth, cause the one who sounds smooth you cannot trust and the one who sounds not smooth is honest.
Good point Newname. My whole OP was as a result of this truth.

There is no sane thinking person on this planet that will agree with torture being evidence of righteousness.

you really have to stop thinking that you can understand God, you can not, he killed Davids child, do you think you can understand that in human terms. he killed all the first born children during Passover, do you think you can understand that in human terms.

God is beyond our full understanding,

Is a Belief in Hell Incompatible with the Truth That God Is Love?

If we start selectively believing Scripture only that isn’t troubling to us, we dismantle the authority of Scripture. That’s exactly what people are doing on the homosexual issue and nearly everything else. If we dismantle the biblical doctrine of Hell, what else will we dismantle because we don't think it fits with other things we believe about God? Where will it stop? I think the answer is, it won’t.

Killing all the firstborn was the tenth and last plague on rebellious Egyptians. We would do exactly the same (or worse) as He did if we were in His shoes. All babies go to heaven. They died quick deaths. No torture.

This is just terrible Dave. We can read of actual punishment for homosexuality in scripture. There is no 'blur'. Nothing that says they will be tormented. It says, stone them to death if they are a Jew / His people and its in the OT / Old covenant.

Anyone trying to say the sin does not upset God have to re-write scriptures.

As for false teaching on hell, it comes from a mix of 1. Cherry picking of a few scriptures, 2. Some who had bad nightmares after watching some horror films that prompted them to write books like Dante's inferno for example 3. Struggling pastors needing to get quick membership for their churches.

All I have asked in this thread is for people to read scripture properly. People who have been falsely taught their whole lives that ''fire of hell'' is on par with being thrown into a brazen bull seem so immovable. You would think Psalm 145:17 'God is righteous in all His ways' would help them. Just absolutely shocking what some believe. I honestly cannot believe it.

Of course, those on the other end of the spectrum now that do not even believe in hell or it being a place of torment of sort are also in error.

So, I am just shocked that because '''there are those that preach no hell or a very pleasant hell''....you resort to believing the absolute worst about hell. About God. You espouse we must just ''accept'' God even if what He does is ''clearly'' wicked. That is simply miss representation of scripture and God. I truly do not know how many times I have to quote Psalm 145:17, 1 John 1:5 and Psalm 136:1 before the truth sinks in.

Who decides what is clearly wicked? Is it wicked that satan burns in sulfur and the ac? To not Judge em would be wicked. Someone saw Hitler being tortured, not by demons, just you reap what you sow. Sow evil, you get it back later. If satan had been smart, to reduce his suffering he'd better have left everyone alone.

All of us know what is right and wrong according to Gen 3:22. It is a gift that is part and parcel with free will, from God. A Christian even more so, which is why Paul says we can judge all things 1 Cor 2:15. Paul also says we will judge angels 1 Cor 6:3.

So to say '''we cannot decide what is clearly wicked'' is just simply (no offence) utter nonsense.

Fact 1: It is bad to repay eye for an eye. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Fact 2: Torture is wicked. In no universe, in no time zone and in no sane mind will it ever not be.

I want you to answer this: What would you do to the devil if you had to judge and sentence him.

Give him a pat on his head. I did that when I was a week saved. I was mad at God and stayed in bed. Refused to get out, cause He would not forgive that poor devil. Then he tormented me and I was like: oh whatever. Guess God knows best. Nowadays if demons bug me I send em to hell so they dont bug others. I would say: I'm not a Judge, so let my Dad take care of that. Easy.
We are not 100 percent holy and righteous like God yet. At least our mind isn't. It has to be renewed to Gods Word. My mind would say: awwwww. Like the lego batman movie where the bozo in the end gets sweet too and we all live happily ever after.
We ate from the tree. Then your idea of good and evil is not perfect like God has it anymore. All those angry ex christian atheists are so sweet and God is a monster. Stop eating from that tree please.

What would you do if you were a leader in a church and a member said: here's 500. 000. I sold my house for 500.000 and I give it to you. Sweet not from me?
The Holy Spirit says: he got 600.000 for it. He keeps 100.000 for himself. He's lying.
I bet 100 percent of the pastors would say: ehm cutipie, God told me you got more and ehm you may not really lie, so you should ask Jesus to forgive you for that, but thanks for the money. Or maybe they'd just say: thanks m8 bye. Peter let him drop dead. He knew he'd go to hell. Then they all feared God.

My ex always said in his preaching: we may be happy that we don't have the glory of the Lord, kavod, yet here like in Acts. We'd all drop dead.

Due to the strong views of @KingJ maybe it could be an idea to step back a little and look again at the subject, starting first at the Lake of Fire, who will enter it. Then moving on subject to scriptures quoted to what it is etc. [Please quote scripture and Bible translation]

Although I agree with the majority here, I am keeping an open mind and pray we let scripture speak.

The phrase lake of fire is found only four times in the Bible, each occurrence is in the book of Revelation. So this should hopefully narrow down our search for its meaning.

The first passage tells us that when the kings of the earth come to fight against Christ at His second coming, the beast and false prophet will be “cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone”

Revelation 19:20 (NKJV)
20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

So it is clear at this stage that at lease these two, the beast and the false prophet, will be thrown into the lake of fire. These two being thrown in alive.

What then are the other three references to 'the lake of fire'?

Second reference that the devil will also be cast into the lake of fire

Revelation 20:10 (NKJV)
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are.
And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Third reference tells us that “Death and Hades” will then be cast into the lake of fire

Revelation 20:14 (NKJV)
14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Forth reference, we read, “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire”

Revelation 20:15 (NKJV)
15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

There are Old Testament passages that point also to this subject (you may know of others)

Genesis 19:24 (NKJV)
24 Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens.

Ezekiel 38:22 (NKJV)
22 And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Psalm 11:6 (NKJV)
6 Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup.

All these show that God will rain down punishment and refer to fire and brimstone each in connection with the lake of fire mentioned above in Revelation

Using these references as a starting point, the verses above so far refer to the lake of fire for,
- the beast
- the false prophet
- the devil

But then scripture includes...
- death and hades.
- And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Please include comments, for and against, including scripture and Bible translation used.

Do you feel the above makes clear it will be the first three, the beast, the false prophet and the devil, or do you believe the above includes All/anyone as well?

The phrase lake of fire is found only four times in the Bible, eac

A minor technicality. That exact wording, four times yes. The lake of fire... five times.

Rev 19:20; And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.
Rev 20:10; And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Rev 20:14; Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Rev 20:15; And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Rev 21:8; "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

Rev 21:8; words it slightly differently. "the lake that burns with fire". But I'm sure this is the same place.

Thank you brother

What translation are you searching?

I get lake of fire and the lake of fire 4x in the King James version and the New King James Version.

Bless you

Sorry to interrupt this program....

I have not been following this thread so please excuse me. I did, however notice your post #92 Brother-Paul and as i very recently posted something alluding to this, i thought you may be interested?

the thread is not all that long (yet) and i have tried to 'open up' the whole fire brimstone topic with a couple of interesting clues as to some things we might have overlooked from time to time? [might not have, too! ] There is a lot through Scripture that intertwines with this.

What you say is very interesting brother, that was also why I started at the beginning with the study together, I found shall I say question marks which I thought was worth further discussion, I will now go and read your link and see if it has the odd item that sort of raised my eye brows to keep an open mind, maybe, maybe not.

Thanks for your input it is always valued and appreciated.

Blessings.

I am not all that sure about what to expect in hell but i know what to expect in Heaven..... Jesus will be there !!! what else do i need to know?

Bless you all ....><>

It doesn't really matter what hell will be like, so long as we make sure we do not go there.

People do not come to Christ telling them about hell, it is only by coming to Jesus and the cross that people can be saved.

Thanks be to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in Jesus Name. Amen

I'd do the same thing God is going to do.

Perhaps brothers you should consider hell and it's horrors.
Really get a grasp of what it will be for the lost.

I say this to myself too having recently lost a very dear friend.
I am also aware of family who are not saved to my knowledge.

It is easy to bask in our salvation and sit back discussing things online. But there is a real world out there who do not know the joy of salvation.

So brothers it really does matter.
Think about a lost eternity and about those you love who may end up there.

You posts make me very sad @Br. Bear @Brother-Paul

Hi Fragrance

Their posts sounded bad, but don't think basking in their salvation was their intention if you read the other posts in the thread.
